yeh ive seen that. doesnt help that much.

i know wat parts are needed, and i already got everything.

though im just seeking how the work is done. i know how to do it though ive seen differnt styles of work and i feel its a bit rough. its just teh fabrication work to fit the front bar. everythign else is straight forward.

did u do the face lift?

im not cuttin my front bumper! if anything ill only be cuttin where the original front bar bolted on to. though alot neater then wat ive seen so far.

my front bumper support has already been shaved to fit my BYS bar so i dont need to re shave that.

everything is straight forward. my car is already stripped so its when i put everything to gether ill take photos and reverse the steps for people to understand how it was done.

papz/ i haev owned 2 ek's and facelifted BOTH of them. using 96-98 radiator supports. what questions do you have requiring answers for ?

scyt7e
12-08-2007, 02:59 PM
zco can it be done with no cutting? i know i will lose the foam and have to grind the edges of the support but can i not but the mounting point as in the previous url i provided??? can i just drill the new mounting points and get it to fit perfectly?

yes. you dont have to cut the mounting tabs. BUT you have to modify your front bar. cut slits into hte front bar where the grill is.. you wont be able to see the cuts as the grill will cover it anyway. quickest and easiest way to fit your front bar.
the slits you need to cut in your front bar are about this big _______ and you dont even see these cuts when the grill is on.. but thats upto you !

okay. just read that papz doesnt want to cut his front bar. well looks liek you're gonna have to order new support. 99-00 paint and weld. then pray that they fitted it straight or your fornt end is gonna look focked lol

if youdont cut your front end, and want to use the original radiator support, then you drill holes into the radiator support tabs, and you have to hacksaw the excess off so your bar can fit !

hope that helps

other than the bumper i cant tell the diff!!
lol

Differences from pre-facelift Ek1/4:
- different shaped headlights (hence different fenders and bonnet)
- wider grill
- no mouldings on the front and rear bumper
- front bumper has 'gills' that can accommodate flush mounted foglights

had to bring this back from the dead but could anyone show me which part of the bumper im meant to cut, zco's ms drawing is confusing me lol im in the process of doin this but just to clarify that i need to only cut the bumper not the support, and only grind down the support a lil bit

scyt7e
26-03-2008, 01:15 AM
when you try to fit the 99-00 bumper the side bits where the top mount for the bumper is will not clear the support on the car... which means you have to cut a slit for the bumper to pass through that point, when you hold the bumper up to the car you'll see what im talking about

i cut the support as opposed to the bumper lol no going back :p but yeah fit the other panels then do the bumper you'll see straight away what the problem is

if you want send me a picture of the bumper and i'll use some of my paint skills to show u what i mean  need picture of the top part of the bumper near the mounting point

the preface looks a lot more aggressive if done rite...

Mugen_B16B

just personal preference i guess, everyone has there own opinions but i do admit preface does look for aggresive, facelift is just a more sharper look

xtercii
30-03-2008, 02:28 PM
can't you guys just buy a face lifted version to start with?

newbie
30-03-2008, 08:46 PM
well yes and no.. only gli and cxi come in facelift in hatchs (which i like the most)

if you wanted or own an ek4 you cant get it facelift. since 99-00 only the em1 came with a b16a in aus. which is coupe

or if you have owned your car for a while and done other mods.. and now you decide you wanna facelift look.

i personally like the lines on the facelift more + headlights. and when side by side i like facelift. but some other like prefacelift much better.. just personal choice.

EK1.6LCIV
22-05-2008, 12:51 PM
I'm into this, I've watched it transform before 96-98/99-00, the secret is to use only oem parts in your install and steer clear of aftermarket parts, the cutting is minialistic requiring at most 20mins with a hand dremel, lol. Then you paint it up where you just cut is a very important and often unmentioned tip. I have a thread as well to add to the list with more pics, will add when my pc is done...

PAPZ
28-05-2008, 10:35 AM
i used all oem parts. if i was to pull everything off you would think my car was oem facelift.

spend the extra time filling back anything you cut. make sure when you slice the front bar bracket that both sides are equal and clean up the holes you drill.

and for EURON8 & xtercii. I prefer the facelift model over the older shape. looks more modern and has a nicer cleaner look. i dont think civics have an aggressive appeal. its a civic for god sake! And relating to purchasing a 00 model. I wish i could have if i found a genuine type r in that shape =P

When mine was converted from a 99-00 to a 96-98, I dont think we had to cut or modify anything. Does cutting things only apply when you change from 96-98 to a 99-00?

yes.. 99-00 have smaller mounting tabs for the bar and the reinforcemnt bar is shorter length

thats true, the only thing you could probably get away with replica is the fenders, if you know how to adjust it right its impossible to tell

the rest you should get oem especially the bumper that makes a huge difference

anyway 99-00 is better from many angles esp the side on angles, the 96-98 is way chunky, doesnt look streamlined at all :p the 99-00 headlights do a lot more i reckon for the car but each to their own haha

colour coded strips is also ftl - makes the car look even worse
