Ok I don't think that's the correct name for them but I'm talking about the trimming around the front and rear bumpers on my 1999 EK.

I know I can take this off and I just thought I'd ask somebody what the best way to do this is without ruining the paint job.

While I'm making a tread I might also ask the best way to take off the CXI sticker on the back is it just heat it up, let the glue melt rip it off and wash the car/glue off?

Cheers

in both instances, a heat gun or hairdryer plus patience and care is the way to do it

Yeah you can take em off. You looking to paint them?

Yeah use heat gun or blow drier, then use a bit of fishing wire to get one of the edges up on the sticker, then peel back SLOWLY. Give it a quick rub with WD40 and QUICKLY get the WD40 off. It will damage the paint if left on.

Nah mate looking to remove them completely.

I'll leave the ones on the doors but I just like the look of the front and rear bumpers without them on.

I'll give that a go tonight cheers!

Anybody else know what this "yellow petrol" is as I plan to do this tomorrow and would like to be able to get the car looking as neat as possible after the removal.

Yeh I will be taking shots of it soon I just removed it today there are no holes under red paint these protectors are just stuck on mate won't need to be painted just need to give it some TLC to get rid of the sticky shit.

Looks alot better already but as I said needs to be cleaned up before I take shots of it.

Stay tuned!

try just using normal petrol, like lawn mower petrol

to remove the sticky stuff

Cheers man I'll try that as the WD40 didn't work at all.

Well was that a adventure or what I don't think I'll be able to drive for afew days after the amount of time I spent gettting my girl looking the goods but I finally got there just neeeds a proper polish and she's good to go.

Ended up using an old shirt and some tar remover worked a treat but plenty of hard work to get the results, so so worth it though!!

Just used a cutting compound to get rid of the sticky stuff and then got it washed and polished by a car wash place, was too lazy to do it myself. :P

Only thing I'll prob do to the door guards is spray them same colour as body.

Looks like too much hassle to remove them.
