---anyone?

Has honda put enough effort into their stock exhaust piping, or would it be beneficial to change the cat back piping? or is the stock muffler the one which is restricting flow? so therefore a axel back to be more beneficial...

im unsure what would be best for the H22a..????

-HELP-

So far as restrictions go the main gains are at the header. Cat back gains would only be very small and normally only done to change the sound and appearance.

yea get some headers
axel back doesnt do anything really except for sound.

h22a stock headers are pretty good already....if u want gains, u'll need to spend some extra money for something like spoon or mugen if they have any

go to preludeasutralia.com for more info on this.

usually with h22a... keep there stock headers and get a custom 2.25 or 2.5 catback. axleback wont give you any gains.

i got 2.25 and its got nice torque down low where as my mate has 2.5 and the car seems to breathe much better top end.

hope it helps.

i had Fujitsubo 4-2-1, hi-flow cat, apexi supermegaphone

sounded great, about legal sound limit..

great gains

really u dont need to spend alot of money

i belive x-force headers make good dyno proven power... n i think liverpool exhaust sell them too

then a good quality cat n rear system will get u good gains in power...but for every mod u need to tune for it. no use putting a system on the car if u cant tune the ecu

the stock honda system including the headers will not get u far if u want power gains. i had cams in my car (h22) n could not get over 100kw at wheels. a stock car does 90-100kw.
i have seen a jap h22 pull 115kw atw stock...but could of been the dyno i think. still...quite a healthy lude

My car is stock other than a Custom intake.. i pulled over 110kw @ the wheels LOL.
Im just gonne slowly come through with some theories in regards to exhausts, mufflers etc. WHen i have more $$ that is :D and this is pre-tuning.

Ohh half throttle i was getting over 80kw @ wheels :D

you know what... actually x-force is making exactly the same shape and material with the mugen.. hahhaa.. it's just gonna be mugen stamp on it... that's what i think... correct me if i'm wrong though...

mugen headers doesn't give power for it's price... it's just for the mugen stamps... hehehe...

compare the two and see and if u have the time.. quality and time of the item staying as good as it is since day 1...
mugen put a lot of $$$ and research n development into their items... themselves and spoon are honda specialist.. and do not make mods unless there is some gain from their item. i guess everyone to their own :D

i'm saying that x-force is actually replica's of mugen in bb6 manifold. it is exactly the same shape and same materials... just different stamp... that's why i said that if you buy mugen ones. it would be a waste of money.

lol

dude, i'd hit a mugen over xforce anyday.

xforce is decent value, mugen is overpriced... but they are in different leagues still mate. power increase might be similar, but the quality of the product is incomparible

its not just a different stamp mate i garentee you that.

my bad... what i meant was the power gaining should be similar... but i think the material should be the same as well... but not sure then...

i'm sure material will be slightly different.. shape may LOOK the same, but inside it ? the thickness of the walls ? quality of welds is another thing..

i've heard of cases where xforce headers actually crack over time.. but i've also heard of a toda header cracking too.. but the ratio is like 1000000:1 (xforce:toda/mugen)

another thing, i've seen a set of xforce extractors that had the flange welded on the wrong angle..

then again, you're paying an extra 800+ for a small power increase over xforce..

but mate, compare a quality header to xforce before you make such claims

well ill see if an axel back feels any better :)

xforce headers->Magnaflow 2.5" high flow cat ->Tanabe Hyper Medalion 2.3" catback.... ftw.. Im glad I went this way, price vs power the xforce headers do pretty well with high flow, and the Tanabe is just better than any exhaust note I could have imagined from the H22... Its deep and QUIET down low, and absolutely roars through vtec, just what I wanted.

Luckily I got the Tanabe just before it went out of production.

sorry for diggin up such an old thread guys, but i wanted to know, would changing the header of the prelude make a really high pitches ear piercin sound ? like the little crx's or the civic's ??
and if i got a mugen one, how much would i be looking at ??

Luder88

I highly doubt it'll make a high pitched noise man. There's gonna be more air flow so it'll growl instead :P It'll sound even meaner if you've got a hi-flow cat and a catback sytem.
I don't think Mugen makes headers for our car anymore. not "sure"!
