Just have some interference coming through my tweeters and I think I may have found the problem. The power cable running to the capacitor runs along side the RCA cables. Is this likely to cause interference? Pics below. I have more pics if need be.
the power cable to capacitor running on the left side of my car, crossing past some RCA cables:

What looks like a power cable going on the right side of my car along with my RCAs? is this normal?:

you just solved your problem! Your signal cables are picking up interference from your power cable. Run power on the opposing side of the car:thumbsup:

that can def be it with cheap rca cables. Also make sure your ground is the same size wire as your power wire, and make sure it is secured VERY well. No paint should be there where it's bolted in (screwed), and keep both your grounds together for the cap and the amp and as short as possible.

try moving your crossovers from where they are, cant say that the power cable and RCA's being next to each other will do it as you would of heard the noise through the mids also. sounds like its getting induced via the crossovers.

OK, are the 2 power cables from the capacitor both power cables or is one of them the grounding? anyway, the 2 black cables running from the top of the capacitor are different sizes. one is 300mm 4g and the other is 300mm 2g. the 2g one looks like it is running along the right hand side of my car with the RCAs. the 4g is running alone up the left hand side of my car and is a little bit red before it reaches the cap.
the 4g runs along with the RCAs a little bit as shown in the pics and I think the 2g runs the whole car length with the RCAs.
I also get hiss through my coaxil 6x9s this is why i think its not the crossovers. Maybe the hiss is only within a high frequency?
Could it be that both power cables are diff sizes? the 2g runs with the RCAs or the 4g runs with the RCAs?

Mugen88 has the same problem as you with the interference. Sounds like an airplane engine/turbo spooling. On his car, his power and signal cables are run together on the same side of the car as well.

Looks like Mugen88 was using the same splits as me as well. Hertz 6½" splits maybe the problem? Did he ever fix it?

this will happen with cheap rca's and it's called alternator whine.

it doesn't change pitch with RPM. when the engine is not running there is no hiss either. Do you think I just need good quality RCAs? or is it the power cable running along the RCAs 30cm or could it be my power and earth being different sizes?

are you using the factory head unit?
who did the install?

as long as the ground cable is larger than the power cable it will be fine. Put the power cable on the other side like i said earlier and see if that fixes the problem it should only take 30min max. Like ICACHA said are you using the factory head unit? if so are you using a proper RCA converter if not that could be picking up other signals as well

Yes I am using the factory HU going through Audiocontrol LC6i. The power cable does run on the left hand side of my car, my RCAs run on the right side.
I will try to rearrange where the power cable runs along the RCAs but they only meet for about 30cm.
Complete Car Sound did the install for me.

Take it back and tell them to fix it. Not worth the worries

get them to try this...
rip the LC6i out and use a SVEN4, we've never had a noise issue using a SVEN4.
if that doesn't fix it then it say it's either the amp/s or poor ground point.
we've never used an LC6i so we don't know what they're like.

Fixed! faulty Jaycar amp, got it replaced and the hiss is gone :D
Now I got alternator whine... anybody know if I can tune my Audiocontrol LC6i to filter noise?

I had the same problem for so long.It was driving me nuts!
I replaced the RCA's and when I installed them I 'platted' (like hair) them together.i.e. wrapped the 2 RCA's and power cables together, all the way. This can fix the problem but it didn't in my case.
I found the negative cable wasn't connected to the front left speaker,IDIOT! Check your connections first!
I still had a problem though.I took the head unit out, jiggled it around, put it back and my problem went.PHEW....
6 months it was coming and going for....AAARRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!
