Would appreciate help here, what is the easiest way to get around the distributor + ecu + loom + harness problem?
i read up that i cannot use the itR harness is that right?
what should i do? pull the lot from a ek4 from my year ( 96-98 cxi)
or is there any other option? its for a 98 spec b18cR
thanks :(

get a EK4 or EK9 (enginebay) harness then run a conversion harness to the ITR OBD2A ECU.

get a harness from edgeauto that will do the trick

is there any adverse consequences of running a b16 ecu on a b18cR? so i gather i need the edgeautos conversion harness and the itr ecu? thats enough? the distributor any b series? loom is.... any b series? :D thanks guys and is there any tweaking necessary for the ek4 harness i read it on honda tech that some minor tweaking was needed

not recomended to run b16a maps on b18. although it will run and go, you risk damaging engine parts if the timing is wrong ect.
the harness I mentioned will let you run a OBDI ecu so you can custome tune the engine. if you want to run the OBDII ecu from the ITR you may have to make your own harness loom ect.
with the harness from edgeauto you use the cxi loom and add the extra wires from the harness to the engine bay. then to run OBDII you add a OBDI to OBDII harness on top of it all.

ok so this is that is neeed then
1) distributor
2) ek4 harness or to use my cxi one i need the edgeautos
3) obdI to obd II conversion harness
AND
4) b18cR ecu
yes?
thanks a lot ecu-man

yeah pretty much
if you go ek4 harness you will need OBDIIb to OBDIIa harness
if you go edgeauto harness then OBDI to OBDIIa harness to run the itr ecu
do you have a OBDI ecu ??? might be better off getting it tuned to suit the B18C
if you use a AUDM ITR ecu you wil have to disable the immobilser in the ECU

im not sure that ihave to check is there a specific way to figure out if your ecu is a b16 or a b18 even if its bloody old? cause if yes i'll pop down to the mech to have a look at the ones he has and i can figure out if its b18cR or just b16 thanks man which one works out cheaper do you think? ek4 harness then conversion harness or to get a edgeautos conversion harness and keep my existing cxi one? :D
man do you have anything at your place? so if i getall those eveyrthing else is plug and play or will i need to tweak some other bits what about the vtec wiring? say if im using my cxi with edgeautos convresion harness
do you have any parts btw? if yes i migth grab them off you

If the ECU is OBD2B then it is a B16(A/B) , if its a OBD2A then its most likely a B18c2/7

No you need to either get a EK9 or Ek4 wiring loom. If you get a Ek4 wiring loom then a wiring harness won't be needed as its a OBD2A and the ITR ECU is OBD2A. ONLY EM1/(maybe EK9 also) engine wiring is OBD2B which therefore means you need the wiring conversion harness.
IMO get a EK4 wiring, everything will plug up and away you go. Dizzy will be the same so no need to change that.

i think your getting confused. You cannot use your CXI wiring.

hang on now ur both confusing me is a ek4 wiring for OBDIIb or OBDIIa? i know the itr ecu is OBDIIa :(

EK4 wiring OBD2A. EM1 (b16a2) OBD2B wiring. EK9 no idea.

EK9 is OBD2B
Regardless , you need either EK4 or EK9 engine bay wiring (to hook up to the engine sensors and dizzy/injectors/VTEC etc) - knock sensor is needed too for the B18c.

You can use another engine harness but i won't say which one. Some modifications needed but it all works. B16a2 engine has knock sensor. If using Ek4 wiring no wires need to be added.

You guys are confusing yourself. If an ek9 is a obd2b then why use it for? useless for his application. You need a ek4 obd2A which is perfect for what you are doing
You need a obd2 distributor, injectors, alternator.
Remember p/s pump is different on the Ek's compared to the dc2/EG. You'll need to get the ek/em1/ek9 p/s pump
Change the side engine bracket on the passenger side.
Basically that all is needed to put it into an EK.

benson my friend do you have any of those stuff you listed it all clicks into place now... i just need to go part hunting now :( and just one last thing i was under the impression for the mounts i needed to change the rear transmission bracket and the drivers side moutn no?? not the left passenger side? and also i know to maintain ac i need to use a delsol 96-97 bracket yes? that is im going to use my d series compressor i know the p/s pump is goign to have to be off a b series.
if you guys got any parts that i will need pm me im most likely going to take them :thumbsup: provided they dont kill me in costs

I am wrong
I got EK4 confused with EK9 thats OBDIIb, so EK4 is OBDIIa sorry

As ecu-man stated earlier in the thread i now have harnesses to convert EK1s to either OBD1 or OBD2b:). Sorry i didnt get any made up to OBD2a:(.
