I haven't seen another FN2 P plater other than me so far. Only one NHB one in the city. I'll be interested in HIDs as well, mayb we should have a GB for FN2 owners?

we should meet sometimes. Cheap HID you can get from ebay around $200 included delivery, 6000k is about the right since you dont want to attract the cops with the blue colour of the 8000k

Yeah well the system was done really neat through LifeStyle store...and the sound with the OEM speakers sounds really good so I would really advise people to get it put in, and don't go cheap on it because you dont want it to look cheap and tacky in 40g car. One weekend we should organise a cruise were we can all meet up..would be good.

Agreed, we should have a meet up for fn2 owners soon. But theres a knob on the drivers side that adjusts the angle of the headlights, would HIDs work with that?

ya i wanna know as well, did u use a LOC or using the rear speaker wires?

sitta
15-08-2007, 09:41 PM
hey cris did you ask if they have any astra adapter ring? apparently if you want to change the front speakers you need to have this metal ring on the door to give the speaker some spacing for the cone to fit into the door

The rear speakers don't actually produce much low end - i presume by design, they are for rear fill. Now if thats the case - they may be high-pass filtered by the deck, which would be poop if you wanted to use them to get a good sub-bass signal.

I wonder if there is some hidden line out connector or something that you can tap into behind the dash to get a good low level clean signal...

Nah used a alpine converter and connected it to factory speakers..not sure about the astra ring...

Well they might depends, I'm assuming they would but I've got my system done using the OEM speakers with just a sub and amp and the system sounds insane...so I don't even know whether you really need to replace the speakers in there but it is an option. Best thing to do is ring LifeStyle store and see, they could probably even order the part in for you.

does the amp power the front speakers as well?

Sounds good...I would probably do what I did and make them do a custom box for your boot, that way it looks clean and you dont have it sliding around especially if your going to get a 12" Rockwood punch sub like mine.. are you going to upgrade speakers?

sitta
30-08-2007, 09:24 PM
ya at somestage ill upgrade the rear speakers, i upgraded the front to the focal, they are going in tommorow. I got no money yet for anymore upgrade at the moment. Probably ill get the sub in about 3 months hopefully :). The kicker is from my old car so ill use that for a little while now, going for SQ rather than SPL, not really into those doooff dooff..

Chris_typer
30-08-2007, 10:04 PM
Yeah i dont really have enough to spend on upgrading the speakers either maybe in the near future I will..but atm the moment the OEM speakers are fine and sound really good with the sub and amp...let us know how the focal speakers sound because I might be looking at upgrading soon. Are you doing it your self or what?

sitta
30-08-2007, 10:22 PM
It will take too much time to do it myself, people at ryda will do it for me

Got the sound system installed yesterday, the focal sounds awesome, no engine noise at all but i find that the sub is not that loud, crish do you take off the boot cover?

here are some pics of the original honda speakers, looks like they only cot 5 dollars, the magnet for the mid speaker is only 3 cm in diameter my focal got like 10cm.

Nah dont take off the boot cover...cuz then when you park people can see your system through the side windows..best to leave it on. system looks good, you should maybe look at mounting it on the back seats or get a custom box so you dont lose so much boot space

Sorry for skipping a few posts (and pages of posts) but nice install. It looks really tidy! Did you request them to mould/mount the subwoofer and amp like that? Looks very very tidy!

Chris_typer
17-09-2007, 04:15 PM
Yeah well I didn't want to sacrifice my whole boot for a sub so I got them to do it like that by building a custom box..

Yep everything.

I thought you bought a Monobloc amp so I'm inclined to think the amp is only powering the sub, and the other speakers are still powered by the HU. That's how Lifestyle did my setup initially. I also didn't think it was a good idea to amplify stock speakers...

Chris_typer
20-09-2007, 10:13 PM
Yeah I did I bought a monobloc amp...hopefully in the future I will buy an amp and upgrade the stock speakers..the amp atm in only powering the sub, ur right its not a good idea to amplify stock speakers, no point.

how thick is the SubBox for your subwoofer Chris? I'm thinking of getting a custom setup for my FD1 in the trunk as well, either that or I spoke to this audio guy and he recommended if I didn't want to take trunk space, I could build 2 8" under the seat.

Chris_typer
21-09-2007, 06:34 PM
Oh not very thick buddy like probably 40 cm's...id build a custom box to be honest, it will sound better then two 8"s under your seat...just get one 12" and amp.

hey chris! im copying your install, DIY style red suede to match the interior, pics coming soon. The box is not yet finished. Maybe i can finish it by tommorow. Im using rockford fosgate P3 12" sub the shallow mount, what sub do you use?

Chris_typer
21-10-2007, 09:56 PM
Yeah same r&f P3 12" Sub shallow mount with mono amp...im planning on probably putting another amp in under the back seat soon and wiring my speakers (hopefully new ones) to it.

sitta
21-10-2007, 10:41 PM
if you put the amplifier under the back seat you wont be able to put it down flat just keep that in mind. you better off modifying your box to suit 2 amp

sitta
22-10-2007, 09:41 PM
PICTURE! new install. I've been working hard through out the weekend and just finished it tonight. The amp stand and its surrounding is all in black so it gives the effect that the amp is floating in the darkness.

Yeah its pretty insane. They offer quality installations, not neccesarily the cheapest but they do good jobs on cars. I was happy with my system.
