Hi,

How do you know whick EK, whether EK1, EK4 or EK9, a 96 - 99 civic is?
I have 99 Civic and for awhile I though it was EK9 because I read it up on the internet some were.
Just the other day I looked past a plate on my Civic that says EK1 which is confusing because I thought EK1 was like 96 model.

If anyone knows please let me know.

as your plate says you have a EK1
if u have a tacho on your dash from factroy it'll be a gli
if u dont have a tacho from factroy it'll be a cxi

the thread title is AUDM models..
not JDM models..
most of the brake pads are the same unless u have a VTIR which is equvialnt to a SIR

can i ask about the USDM models of civics? are the EX CXI etc different to our models? i think they have the d16y7 engines? and can someone confirm this that the intake is actually attach from the top rather than from the side like the ausdm models.

Hi Danny, just an input i guess the list of civic engine on top (civic eg) need adding VTEC engine for some of them (for example eg vti - SOHC, but no VTEC).
It's just i see the new civic line up got iVTEC.

:D

I'm curious...I just bought my 94 Civic Sedan, VTi DOHC VTEC and I've been doing some research on the engine etc., but the model/info you have states that the 94 Sedan VTi isn't a DOHC. My car ain't dodgy is it? lol

Andy~

[[d a n n y]]
14-04-2008, 12:22 AM
nope if u have a DOHC VTEC in a sedan it's either a transplanted engine or a EG9 thats been registered as a Vti

dougie_504
14-04-2008, 10:32 AM
Cheers for that. Admittedly it was like 12:30am or something when I posted and I just couldn't be bothered getting out of bed to check anything. I'll do it this arvo.

Thanks again,
Andy~

I took a look and I'm quite sure it's the 93kw SOHC VTEC. The moron who recently sold the car to me put some stickers on the rear windscreen reading "DOHC VTEC" and to be honest I just believed it...I would have bought the car regardless of being DOHC or SOHC anyway...was in great knick, sensational mags, very straight/clean etc..

How can I check what model engine/series of Civic I have? I've been doing some research and I think I have either the D16Z6 (Civic EX) which is the SOHC VTEC, but then some of the other criteria leads towards the D16A8 DOHC VTEC (88-95 Civic - Australia). I know my chassis model is EH9 but I'm still learning about the car in general.

Now I can't help but wonder what it'd be like if I did something silly and dropped in a B16A at some point down the track <lol>

Andy~

[[d a n n y]]
15-04-2008, 11:05 AM
lol d16a8 is the DOHC non vtec motor mate
it's found in the Si's
give me your engine code number
ill tell u exactly wat it is
or post up a pic of your engine bay

dougie_504
15-04-2008, 11:19 AM
At uni right now, trying to do a very dry assignment...I can check later this arvo, but I know it's a VTEC. It has "VTEC" on the engine and you can feel it around 5500-6800, that's why I was leaning towards D16Z6 SOHC VTEC, so I'm sure it's a Civic EX (EH9 chassis). I'm just hopeless with it atm <lol>

Thanks again mate,
Andy~

15-04-2008, 11:23 AM
if u have a EG it should be the D16y1 or sumthing

dougie_504
15-04-2008, 11:40 AM
Yeah, I'm lost with this stuff...I'll have a poke around and take some photos soon anyway...it's very nice, and overdue for the catwalk...

Engine ID is "D167Y11001640"

Pic attached, was taken with my mobile phone but I think it came out alright.

I still haven't bloody managed to figure out what series the actual car is. The chassis is EH9 and I have a moon roof etc, so I thought it was an EX, but I'm pretty sure I don't have ABS so I dunno...How the frick can I figure that part out?

Many thanks again mate

EDIT: Just did some more research and I'm quite sure it's the D16Y1 SOHC VTEC (96KW).

~5th Generation Civics~
VTi 4dr Sedan Man 5sp / 4sp Auto 1.6i
Engine: D16Y1
Power: 96Kw

Now I'm just hazy on the model... 94 Civic EH VTi? I just can't find a lot of information on the EH..

[[d a n n y]]
16-04-2008, 10:52 AM
yeah EH is just a chassis code for the sedan
it's same as a EG5 vti
yeah looks like u got a AUDM Vti sedan
still a good car
all that ex crap is USDM

EK GLi Sedan, you have a D16Y4, non-VTEC SOHC, you can look on your VIN

Does anybody know if a H22A motor would fit in a 94 EH Civic Sedan? I currently have the D16Y1, 96kw SOHC VTEC but I guess I'm dreaming of 200+ HP...

Any advice on an upgrade is welcome :)

Maybe if you actually read the first page instead of blindly posting you would of seen it.

Civic Vti Hatch
Body style 3-door hatch
On-sale dates Oct 1993 - Sep 1995
Engine 1,590cc SOHC 16 valve, 4-cyl MPFI
Power / torque 96kW / 145Nm
Transmission 5-speed manual / 4-speed automatic (optional)

And its VTEC not v-tec .

not same engine, that SOHC vtec in the VTi sedan is about fuel economy not going BAAAAA, just it has taht 1 extra NM of torque

I own a 96 EJ coupe yet it says the sale date is 1998 at the earliest (for vti)? lol

I purchased the vehicle already modified, b20a b18 head, aftermarket cpu, in pretty bad shape which is why i've signed up.
