When i bought the car, the dealer told me I would be able to dial up tracks through the Ipod whilst it is connected, however a heads up that with the standard (genuine honda) CTR type ipod adapter, you do not get to control it via the ipod.

You must use the stereo controls or steering wheel controls to pick through many gb of music.... great... I have thousands upon thousands of tracks.... you can create up to 7 custom playlists that are selectable as if they were compact discs in a stacker... and then "disc 8" turns your ipod into an "ipod shuffle" ... or in my case a 30Gb Ipod shuffle...

sound quality is okay - but the default location for this is in the little console tray above the gear stick, which has no door to cover it like in the other civics, so your ipod is in plain view for no real reason because you can't use it whilst its plugged in anyway....

I've got hte guys at honda service checking out another (aftermarket i presume) type of ipod adapter, to see if it will allow control via the ipod. he also said they can relocate it to the console box or glove box...

for $490 i'd have thought it would do a little more than that - but at least your not tempted to play with the ipod whilst you're driving...

yeah well thats the problem..its actually to stop you from fiddling with it while your driving because really its like watching tv in your car or using a mobile phone while driving. I actually think its quite good..i just choose the play list i want before I starting driving and just disconnect it and choose another playlist when feel need too. The issue of being in the open is an issue though...i actually place the cover underneath so when i get out my car i just slip the cover on to conceal it.

the only shit thing is 60% of my music is dj sets of all electronic genres. these things go for an average 1 - 2 hours.

I like using the scroller to skip to the middle if i don't want to hear the start of a set. I'd have to hold the skip/search button for probably 10 minutes to get to the middle of a dj set - it doesn't seem to speed up the longer you hold it.

poo!

but yeah - i think ipods are a bigger distraction then mobile phones - at least you can watch the road when you use a phone. I've almost driven into a truck using my ipod in my old car.

wonder how long it will take the cops to ban using ipods in the car as well....
