for the cd5 and cg/ck accord driver..

my mate is going to buy either a cd5 or cg/ck accord..

since i was a cg driver and i knew that the cd5 is made in japan and cg/ck is made in us/thailand and japan means quality..

but in terms of:
-comfort: which one is more comfort?
-handling: which one has better handling?
-quiteness: which one is more quiet?
-performance: which one is more powerful? - i asked this because when i owned a cg and put standard unleaded fuel i need to rev it up to 5000 rpm to move the car from full stop position.

I use to own a CG and my Dad owns a CD5..so the differences i notice were:

- CG much more smooth and comfortable ride..
- CG IMO had better handling than the CD5
- CG miles ahead in terms of low level noises
- CG was faster, but then again i had the CG V6L..
- Though stock the CD5 looks better, but CG can be made to look very VIP styles..
- CG also eats a LOT of fuel..

Hope that helps!

what are the common problems for these cars?

for cd5's the fuel sender unit can be an issue. not expensive to fix tho.

i just had the ignition switch go on mine recently but apparently thats not an uncommon prob for cars over 10yrs and not accord specific.

i havent had any major dramas with mine, overall very reliable :)

are u still on the f series? i heard the v6 accords have transmission problems, which isnt exactly cheap to buy/rebuild one. so is that a GOOD reason to not purchase one of these? because the next thing u need is spending 10k on a car that is going to die after xxx,xxx amt of kms

yep tranny problems are common on the CG V6s. according to a member of the forums who works at honda, most CGs brought in to get their tranny's rebuilt are V6s.

To prolong your tranny life, always use Genuine honda Automatic transmission Fluid. I've used off the shelf Dot 2 before and that made shifting crap. but since I flushed it out and put in geniune stuff, and have been doing so for the past 30,000kms, its beautiful.

its starting to slip a little, and the computer gets a little confused sometimes, but overall, its fine.
