Hi guys. I have a 98 Accord VTi and am thinking about doing an engine transplant to H22A. Is there a better engine that I should be looking to get or is that the best one?

I am located in Melbourne and was wondering how much it would cost to get my hands on one, and where a good place to get the job done would be.

Thanks guys!

I think you would spend up to $3000.

It's no joking matter. I'm quite serious about doing it. My budget is up to $5000.

*EDIT wrong accord* 4cyl sorry. ~ and alot of weight in the car...IMO $5k will not be enough for the BASIC swap of a h22a engine in there. IMO it will be slower than before

It's a 4 Cylinder F23A1, SOHC.

i agree with ben

i can't justify spending 5k odd on a H22A conversion.
At the end of the day its not worth it man.

boost or nothing. My gf's dads accord has the V6 and it moves eventually . There feels to be alot of weight pulling around.

or sell the accord and get a faster car :)
or if u love it so much and wanna keep it N/A be prepared to blow serious $$$

Maybe boost is a good idea! 5k will get you a good custom baby induction kit :P

if ur wanting to get d most out of your cd5, then u can go for the H22 option then boost it later on. certainly will be faster than a booster f22. but if ur wanting to go for speed RIGHT NOW, just boost it. but if u've got high mileage at d moment, then getting h22 with low Ks would be good. it really depends how fast u wanna go and how much longer u wanna keep ur cd5.

if u are really wanting h22, i would find a front/half cut so u get all the goodies for a direct replacement. not sure how much it will cost to put a new engine in where u are. there are DIYs on the net if ur keen, hehe.

jus to get back to the original question i think what the guy wanted to know was is the h22a the best transplant u can do if u want to keep it n/a.

so on that point, afaik ppl do the h22a on older accords because it is by far the easiest to slot in and provides a fair gain for not a huge outlay (in relative terms) which makes it the only real viable option. although i have not heard of anything other than the h22a being done im not entirely sure if there is anything else that will work (eg. k-series). in any case, its highly likely that anything else would be too expensive/complex to be worth considering.

boost or h22a (or ideally boosted h22) are the only setups to really look at depending how serious you are on performance for ur accord. $5k is really not enough imo for a proper turbo setup with all the extras u need to make it worth the effort (i/h/e, ecu etc.) and being a gen 6 im not sure if the h22a would be a whorthwhile investment either.

tbh, for the price u would get for selling the accord and the 5k u could get urself a semi-decent 4 door performance car that would save u a lot of time and money :)
