If the offset for the Civic is +45, and my current wheels are tucked quite far into the wheel arches(as opposed to protruding out of the wheel arches) does that mean the offset for my current wheels are too positive or negative?

Im pretty sure it was 114.3x5 offset +48.
Should have been the same as the accord.

Edit: I have 17's and i think the offset is +42 atm. So yeh...
Do NOT get low profile tyres on ur civic. Ride is very uncomfortable...T.T

So are you saying that 17's are uncomfortable?? Does anyone have 17's and agree with jo_e??

I've got the VTi-L and I'm selling the alloy wheels and tyres, the back of the wheels says +45. 5 x 6j.
Also have just taken the wheel off the Accord Euro its says +55. 100% sure for both.

I think you are right.

I have 17" 5x114.3 +38 on 225/45/17 and they are a little bumpy and I've had comments from friends that say its uncomfortable but I don't mind the rather bumpy ride.

^ does the +38 make your wheels stick out from the guards? Pics?

I know these aren't the best pictures to show offset but its all I can find... I personally think it looks just right, it sticks out right to the edge so I can have a wide tyre 225 is pretty wide for a civic.

Im not sure if its the wheels or the tyres that make it uncomfortable...
I hate to admit it, but my mums stock corolla is so much more fun to drive now...with fat tyres..XD
But if u live in sydney and goto the macq. shopping centre carpark, everytime i hit a speed hump its hell.

offset should be different, depend what rims. so better just drop 2 shop, and fit.some places where very experience, they know already what offset for this or that car with these or those rims.

we can't choose tyre profile, if 18" you have to get 40, 17" - 45.otherwise you speedo will be unaccurate.of course we don't want we drive 60 and cop stop u say u drive 80 ?

if 18" compare with 15", yes, very uncomfy.

same like me, 18", u can notice the different very much.but not choice, u want looks, u have to sacrifice comfy. i think 'coz the tyres, too thin so less air to absorb the vibration. may be if change the spring+absorber will be different story.
