HELP! i have an ek1, and there seems to be problems with my windows, the power windows go down fine, but when putting it up it really struggles, recently the passenger one gets stuck and doesnt go up at all mid way, i have to hold the button up and force it up with my hand and its tight.
iv noticed that it gets stuck because its too tight, possibly because of the worn out, seals on the windows making it too narrow.
iv seen a few ek's out there with worn out window seals, do you have this problem.
has anyone had this problem?
is it possible to replace the seals?
if so, how much roughly do i need to save up?
any suggestions?
thanks

try spraying some silicone spray in the seals on both sides.
my ek struggled to go up as well and it improved heaps after spraying it.

yeh, i read up on that, but i also heard silicone spray temporarly fixes the problem but, after like a month gets hard and makes it worse.
is this true? i heard some people using graphite powder.
anyone use it?

use a rubber lubricant on your run channels and it should be good as new. 'rubber care' is used by honda dealers, not sure if its available retail to public from places like bursons, super cheap etc

far out, there goes my coilovers, or subframe+swaybar mod!!!!!
honda is charging me $264each window so $528 all up to change the rubber seals. they dont even know for sure if this is the problem.
you reckon i should just get it done, or know any place in sydney that deals with this stuff?

yeh lol, i dont even think the seals are the problem, they just claimed it is by sight, cuz apart of the seal is falling out, but it isnt getting in the way of the window. so i dont know why that would effect the window going up, unless it touches at the top.
ill prob call a local smash repairer or sumthing.

no ,but id try other alternatives before you start replacing old things on your car. My eg is years older than ur ek and i havent encountered this issue yet. Try other lube as mentioned above - try some stuff called " dri-blue" ( its wax that comes in a yellow stick @ autobahn/repco/super cheap) and give a liberal coating up and down the rubber guide. Should get it going as per normal and last a lot longer than plain silicon spray.

thanks, ill give it a go, but not sure if it will make a big diff, cuz the silicone lub didnt do much.
yeah like benji said you should realy try the other alternatives before you got paying like 200$ for things to be replaced!

 for the graphite powder it works a treat
i was previously in the same situation as you and some of the members suggested silicone spray or wat
after reading up a bit, found that the silicone spray/gel that u use actually attracts dusts, grime n other nasties. thus making em worst

hi, i bought dri lub and the graphite powder today. use them both same time lol. driver side has gotten alot better, passenger alittle better but still the passenger side is struggling.
maybe i need to open it up, and put wd40 on the gears or sumthing.
otherwise just pay the leeching hondas to replce.
thanks for the posts
