Need your advise

A friend of mine is looking into buying a Honda Accord Euro.

We have inspected the car and all seems fine, should say perfect! The logs books have stamps in them from Honda Larke Hoskins with dates and kms that match what is on the clock now (~32000)

When he calls Honda Larke Hoskins they cannot identify this car as their customer by rego, but when checking thru Honda AUS wide system they can identify this car by VIN number. Though this Honda system shows that this car has been serviced at Scotts Honda (dates do not match Log Books) and rego that they have in Honda system does not match what is on the car.

Honda system also shows Australia Insurance Limited as the owner, whereas the Log Books have got seller's name as the first owner.

My friend called RTA and they confirmed the rego that's on the car (as opposed to Honda system) has been on this car since brand new. REVS check also confirmed that VIN engine and rego(thats on the car) match RTAs records.

Do you think we can assume Honda f**ked up the records?
Has anyone experienced/known of a similar situation?

What the seller has agreed to do is to post the log books to Honda HQ in Mel for resolution. This has been done. But then again Honda can take ages...

Hmm.Seems odd.But then if the seller has sent the logs to HA for verification then it may simply be a case of HA screwing up.Best wait and see what HA has to say.

Just on the service dates on the Honda system - the dealers stuffed mine up. They even missed a service being registered on the Honda system even though I had stamps and receipts, etc.

Was never rectified even though I complained to the dealer.

As for the owner of the car - what does the registration show? An individual or a company. If this is a one owner vehicle the buyer should have the receipt for the vehicle purchased.

I forgot to bring my log book for the 10k service, but dealers say they can stamp it anytime I bring it back as it all on their system. They will also send me letter to remiind me the service cause they have my records.

So maybe thats the case... I got all the service receipts with me too...

The rego papers show him as the owner. We've checked his drivers license and debit card. Address on the papers and drivers license is where we met the seller(his house) and inspected the car.

Because seller runs a business his accountant has all major receipts (including vehicle). And all receipts are archived after 12 month. So we did not push for it.

REVS check does not bring anything on the car (neither wrecked nor stolen)

Will post here when hear more from seller/Honda HQ

Does anyone work for Honda or know someone who does and can check this case?

Thanks for your help

^ just pop in and get them to stamp it, or if you can't make it in and if you trust australia post enough, mail it to them to do it.
