hi guys
i'm planning on letting me lil poor EK1 loose n going for a slight upgrade. Thinking of going for an EM1 and found a decent EM1 on carsales.
My question is this:
44 000km on a 1999 EM1. Does this sound dodgy to you guys ? Cause i was stoked at the amount of km's on this thing and thought maybe it was a 2001 model or something.
The seller mentioned they were in pyrmont so right in the city. I've argued with myself that maybe due to the close proximity to the city they didn't need to drive much. BUT, 8 years and all they have clocked is 44 000 km ? Just not sure.
However, due to the low km's and added extra's (i.e. HID lights and leather upholstery) they have asked for quite a price. That is not my concern though.
Just wanted to hear your 2 cents on the mileage on this EM1.
thanks in advance :D

it can be legit
check log books.
see if it matches and it's reasonable.
check the screws in the cluster surround, see if it's marked.
and overall look at the condition of the car

look at normal wear and tear like around the shifter and check out the wear on the brake and clutch pedals
also check out the floor mat where ur heel moves between the clutch and brake
at 40,000kms i doubt much wear in these areas...
generally the good thing abt buyin a car in the city is that the people wont drive much as they are in the city...

ive seen that em1 on carsales. looks really neat and from its description n price seems legit. However that price is really high imo and its been there for like most of this year. But if u have the $$$ and want a neat black em1 then go for it

if that price is firm....i suggest u start looking for other cars which would provide much more fun ...maybe dc2r
or a gen5 prelude :D:D
Anyways, if log books are not present then theres a chance the kms arent real as the cluster has been touched

Very good points from Kelvin, Ricer & destrukshn defiantly check them out, but if he is still asking his $22k or so, id be going dc2r all the way!!
good luck

You can always guage the milege on a car by looking at wear and tear bits, I personally like to look at the seats and by running my hand over the headlights, (@ 40,000k's it should feel slightly rough, but still smooth and no visible scratches yet)... if the lights feel like they just came out of the factory, it isn't a good sign, most likely the car has recently got into an accident (unless the headlights are aftermarket).

hahah only 40K's since '99? like destrukshn said, it COULD be legit, but personally i doubt it.
car's sitting on 40K in that year are probably high performce imports... not an em1... its a civic... remember that. a civic is a daily driver.

hey guys thanks for all the input.
after a few days battling out in my head i ahve decided to let this one go. I'll continue my search for an EM1 but am considering investing my money in something else.. Possibly a DC2R or i'm now considering going for a brand new FN2.
Once again thanx for all the help.. Really did help :)
