on aug 15th a few friends and I went out to Willowbank and i ran my TypeS for its first time on the drag strip.
I got a few good runs but my best was a 14.891 @ 152.27km/h
60ft was 2.340...
kept everything in the car, spare wheel, jack, tools and ran with stock Bridgestone RE050 tyres at 40psi.
car has a Fujitsubo Powergetter exhaust.

I was wondering if there are any tips that anyone could give me to improve my times...
it feels like can launch better but I can't seem to be able to get grip earlier on...and wheel hop obviously doesn't help...

I've come across a thread about how to improve 1/4 drag racing techniques but can't find it, any suggestions would be great...

hehe my car is heavy and i only mod is my exhaust :p

i had my tyres at 40psi because i was at the track (queensland raceway) the weekend before and they suggested to have our stock street tyres at 40-44psi if we are using them on the track....something to do with keeping the tyre on the rim if we were ever to spin off the track...

Yeah that only applies to the circuit dude.... due to tyre wall stiffness of street tyres not being that great, so you compensate with increase in psi.

For drag drop em down.

ye try lowering em down to about 20-22psi and practice your launches and shifts. Best of luck.

if you're getting wheel spin, hang onto the clutch a bit more. launch earlier, like 2nd light, and from the rear of the staging area, that usually reduces times by up to 0.5s (you start accelerating from earlier, meaning your average speed over the quarter is higher). contact patch of your tyre doesnt matter as much as compound, so 20psi seems like you're pushing it a tad. for the weight of a type r, i'd say 25-30psi, depending on the tyre. try to keep steering to a minimal, kill any toe out your car may have. a little camber is alright. etc.

lol, unless its tour de france...

or you're running a 4 tonne truck on bridgestone adrenalins, at which point the 51psi recommended wouldnt be too bad.
