hi. i recently bought a car and the batteries for a remote control was dead. after i got the batteries replaced. and now for some reason the remote doesn't activate anything. i was wondering if anybody knew if the remote was for an alarm system or just central locking??? the remote has on the rear ''fortronic security systems'' so im thinking that it is for an alarm system. can anybody confirm??

take it to auto bahrn or an car security place they should be able to tell you straight up :) and i thought alarm remotes or at least some have a 3rd botton for the alarm to deactivate it. that one looks like its just unlock and lock or does one of yours deactive that alarm when it goes off?

quite simple... one button to unarm you alarm, and possibly unlock, one button... yep you guessed it... to arm your alarm and unlock it.

To answer the OP's question... you sure you got the right battery? sometimes when a battery has been in a device like that for a long tim you will get corosion on the contacts, pull it back apart, give it a clean inside, and maybe use sum light sandpaper to shiny up the contact points again, and maybe sum compressed air to get any loose crap out...

if it doesnt work after that, then take it to someone

definitely looks like an alarm remote...and you don't have to have more than 2 buttons. try what Zilli said.
