Not meaning to sound elitist/snobby but there's something about your post which made me go 'ugh'...

Anyhow, my system sounds fine with my Alpine lineouts and stock HU, but there is another user here who purchased the double DIN dash from Kah Motors (distributor of Honda in Singapore) for very cheap and installed their own HU. I personally doubt it makes that much difference in terms of audio quality, considering all you've got is an Alpine sub and nothing too extravagant- depends on what amp you're running though. There are other people on this forum who know more than me though, so we'll wait for their opinion too.

As for the boot rattle, I get that alot too. Turned out I also had a loose screw on my spoiler, but fixing that, it still rattles. As a result I have my sub facing inwards now (multiple benefits) and the rattle appears to have lessened but it's still noticeable.

there may or may not be a change in sound quailty all depending on what gear you have used such as wiring and high to low converters and wether u have split the speaker wires or have u wired them all the way to the head unit.
if u want any help setting up a system...i can answer pretty much any questions...
Main benefit from the aftermarket HU is the RCA outputs and you are able to tune it for better sound with the equalizer.

Question to the pros; will sound deadening help because the rattle comes from the rear bumper? I thought sound deadening is used inside the doors or lining of the bootlid (rather than the bumper)? I figure it'll help absorb some of the vibrations... but.. *shrugs* I really should've gone with fhrx's suggestion to get some~

i used stinger roadkill on the bootlid... made a big difference. And chuck some foam spacers under ur numberplates. Get some foam and try and fill out places u think might be causing rattles, coz its not usually just one place making sounds. Why don't u get an amp man... hunits don't put out enough power. you'll notice a difference in quality if you get an amp, not just more doof doof

hey sas and he does have a decent amp, type X 12inch alpine sub, capacitor, he just wants to know if putting a headunit in will make a difference in sound quality?

Yeh my numberplate holder was causing rattles- ended up removing the cover and just leaving the plate naked.

caps are over rated....
get your self a yellow top optima battery... u will find a massive difference

i found a huge difference with my cap like i mean huuuuuuuuuge, the amp was drawing wayyyy too much power everything was dimming...EVERYTHING

then a cap wont FIX it, itll just MASK it. if youve got power/dimming problems id upgrade the power & ground wiring.. then battery/alternator if theres still electrical problems.

no hes talking about wiring it to the battery get new terminals so its a cleaner fit making sure you are getting maxium power.
Alternators aint that important usually with all the new cars they run fine.
caps just hide a problem and cause more that you dont realise.
Trust me upgrading your battery is the best thing ive ever done...
I saw you live in hornsby from another thread. me 2. haha...

nah i didnt mean new battery terminals.

i ment thicker power wire from battery to amp/s, and thicker groundwires like from battery to chasis, engine block to chasis, alternator to chasis, amp ground wire to chasis.

if ur gonna put in thicker gauge wiring you are gonna put way to much stress on ur battery....

hmmm your power is right on the edge of 4 AWG limits. you probably think the cap makes so much difference cus its dealing a little with voltage drops/power supply issues - which can be addressed with a better battery and/or better wiring.
