Hey guys,

My DA9 for some reason takes a while at times to engage reverse. At times, up to 10 seconds. It happens pretty randomly, as it'll readily happen when the car is hot or cold. I got a transmission service and they rekon it's an internal problem and quoted me a large amount of money to fix it.

However, i think it's in the T bar shifter itself. I notice if i fiddle with the shifter, a bit and depress the button and let it go it usually does the trick.

Has anyone experienced this sort of problem before? And if so is it just a matter of disassembling the shifter and tightening a few things etc. Any help would be much appreciated,

the shifter and cable could be out of sync with the selector of the trans. If thats ok, the revers piston in the trans is faulty or a valvebody problem.

Thanks very much for your help. Is re-synching the shifter and cable a job I would be able to undertake at home, or is it a fairly complicated procedure?

Something not meshing. depends to whether u have got a second box in, see wit honda, when the gearbox comes out so does the ring gear because its attached to it. unlike any other car which it is attached to the engine itself. generally a piece of SHIM.. 'a thin peice of aluminium' can fix it.

Ahh ok, thanks very much for your help. To my knowledge it is the original box but i'll definitely follow it up.
