ive got a very basic setup in my car, an eg hatch, its been running fine for ages.
Alpine CDE-9852 Headunit
Alpine SPE-17CS Splits (front Stage)
Kenwood 6x9s (boxed in parcel shelf)
Rockford Fosgate Punch Z 12in sub
and Alpine V12 MRV-T707 2/1 channel amp (bridged driving sub)
the limiting factor i have is that the headunit has only one preout.
My amp was driving my sub when i went to buy the front splits, so i chose the type e range because of its lower rms rating, as they would be driven by the internal headunit amplifier and this would match the speaker better. Recently, i have taken out the sub for a bit more practicality and have just been running all the speakers from the headunit. they sound fine, but i now have an amp sitting there doing nothing.
i am thinking of leaving out the sub and using the amp to drive the front splits. the amp is rated at RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 70W x 2 @ 12V. however the splits are only rated at 35wrms. my guess is that the amp will be too much for the splits, is this correct?
the other alternative is driving the 6x9s with the amp, but i dont really want to do that, as the front stage should be the most important.
what would be the best course of action, bearing in mind i would rather make do with what i have for the time being?
thankyou in advance
