Hi All,

I am trying to install my sound system into my Civic EK Sedan.

I have installed many sound systems before in my cars and friends however I am having trouble with this one.

I have connected the power cable to the battery, ground to the chassis and remote to the CD Player all to to the amps however the amps don't turn on (no red or green lights come on the amps, usually if there is something wrong like a fuse or ground not secure the red light comes on).

Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you,
Tom

sure you got, power going to the remote wire?
use a test light see if it's coming through

Hi,

I have a voltage metre, can that be used? As I have tested that on the amp and it shows up as 12V running to the amp but the amps don't go on?

If the remote is not secure/connected properly will the amp not turn on?

Thanks.
Tom

where abouts have you run the remote wire, just a guess but if you have run it under the sill trims perhaps when you put the seat belt bolt in it may have got caught and it may be grounding.

when you turn the head unit on do you get any voltage reading from your remote line? if not you have a connection problem with that line. Also check to see if it is not the amps themselves. Place 12v on the remote terminal and see if they turn on then. And no the amps will not turn on if your remote line isn't fixed correctly.

also make sure that you connect the remote wire, not the power antenna wire.. these two wires are the same blue color so it is possible to connect the wrong one... quick check: turn the radio on and see if it turns the amp on

Thank everyone for all of your help.

By the sounds of things, the majority is saying it must be the remote wire and yes it does run through the sill trims and I have not connected the remote to the aerial wire.

I will have a look tomorrow at the remote wire and rewire it from the deck, direct to the amp to test and see if that works.

Thanks again for all your help guys and will keep you posted if the problem gets fixed.

Hey,

On the back of your CD Player where all the speaker wires etc are there is a remote wire (most of the time it is blue with white stripe) which you will need to connect to the amps remote terminal.

This controls the amp to turn on and off when your CD Player does so it does not stay on 24 hours and cause a flat battery.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,
Tom

decks only run couple amps out of the remote wire. im pretty sure any thing more than 3 or so amps youll need to run a 12v relay to get the remote wire going. im not sure. i had teh same problem in my crv... i was only running 2 x2channel amps.. try this site out. http://www.caraudiohelp.com/newsletter/multiple_amplifiers.htm hope it helps
