I would like to buy an Accord Euro but the only problem is I need to be able to tow a small camping trailer one or twice a year, the camping trailer weighs 550 KG.
The Accord Euro towing capacity is rated at about 500 kg with out brakes & 1200 kg with brakes so it should be able to handle it. I just wondered if any one has had any towing experience with 550kg ish trailers.
I hate to think I have to buy a car I am not that keen on for two times a year.
Luv the Euro :p ..................

50kgs isnt all that much, its the difference between having a really fat and really skinny passenger, in effect.
it you also had a full car, and full boot, i'd think twice
I wouldnt do it. The tow limits are there for safety reasons. If you have an accident towing that 550kg trailer good luck with your insurance company. The load limit will be the first thing the assessor will check.

The trailer has brakes so the 50KG should not be a problem as the load limit for the Euro is 1200kg with brakes & the trailer has brakes so the insurance company should be happy as it is only pulling half its rated towing weight.
The trailer has brakes so the 50KG should not be a problem.
So what is your question exactly? The car will pull the load easily - I thought you were asking about whether it was ok to exceed the 500kg no brake limit.

so...you know that the car can tow 1200kgs when the trailer has brakes, and you know your trailer has brakes.
i assume you also know that 550kg is less than 1200kgs.
why are you asking for advice here?

You'll have no problems towing the trailer.
I have to tow stuff semi-regularly (not so much now since we replaced the Corolla with a CRV so I tend to use that) -- like you, a couple of particular times a year.
I have used my Euro to tow pallets of phone books -- which are about 700-800 kg -- and there were no problems.
I should mention that I have a manual, but even with an auto you won't have any issues towing a 550 kg trailer.
Compared to towing with a V6, I find that I just have to have a few more revs on board and ride the clutch slightly when moving off, just to get over that low torque band below 2K. Anything I've towed really hasn't felt like it's taxing the engine.
I bought my Euro after having a 3 l manual TF Magna -- and I love it! Everything about the car meant that I didn't have to buy another V6. If you like the car, it will suit your purposes fine...
