Hey guys. I have realised there are a few tyre selection threds but have not been able to find the exact answer to my question.

Basically just purchased my new rims. Buddyclub P1 15 x 6.5. Wanting to put some street legal semi slicks on. After something more suited for drags, and not too bad in the wet on streets with a low chance to aquaplane? Does something like this exist, how much and where would i purchase in brisbane?

any suggestiong for manufacture choice? toyo, advan, falken, pirelli ? want something as wide as possible, with large profile and soft side walls. think thats about it. Any suggestions more then welcome :) think thats about it

Thanks in advance

Regards Lyle!

i remember advan making some dot approved semi's. Mickey Thompson's are good as well.

You'll get poor wet weather performance with any sort of semi slick. (compared to a good street tyre anyway)

im starting to toss up between the Advan a048, Toyo R888 & some micky thompsons. They all seem to be similar price rang but worried about the general street handelling of the micky thompsons? anyone know if they are noticeable worse then say a more allround semi like a048 or r888? or only really when you start pushing your car?

thanks :)

a048 and r888 are predominately a circuit tyre which means stiff sidewalls - no good for drag.

yeh i have realised but 90% of the life of these tyres will be on street, with some visits to the drags. i know they wont be as good as drag semis but they should be much better then just a street tyre.

would the toyos or advans be much better in wet and on street then micky's ?

Even a true semi slick track tyre will not be great on the street. They are great once you get some heat into them but under normal driving conditions you won't get them up to temperature. In the dry, with some heat they are fantastic. Cold, in the wet, you may as well be driving with your eyes closed because thats about as much control as you will have.

semi slicks for circuit and semi slicks for drag are so different . Choose the right tyres in the 1st place

Yeap so true. But we also use circuit semi's for drag and had some success with them LOL.

Need to try true drag radials.
