View Full Version : Injen Cai
ok so ive done some searching, and found the following retailers that stock the injen cai (both short ram and full C.A.I)
tsxparts.com - injen full cai - US$238 + shipping
http://www.tsxparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_38&products_id=144
Titan motorsports
injen short ram - US$180 + shipping
http://www.titanmotorsports.com/inshraminsy0.html
http://www.titanmailorder.com/product_info.php/products_id/10284
injen full cai - US$255 + shipping
http://www.titanmotorsports.com/incaho03ac4c.html
Ebay
kurumamotoring - full cai - US$280 + shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INJEN-COLD-AIR-INTAKE-04-06-ACURA-TSX-SP1431_W0QQitemZ200047914930QQihZ010QQcategoryZ386 34QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
just looking to see if anyone has dealt with any of the above sellers, and any recomendations as to who would be the better choice to deal with
im leaning towards the titan motorsports short ram at the moment, as i wouldnt use the full C.A.I mode, but i would also pay more if i know the seller is a reliable trustworthy person and i would get my item in one piece delivered from America
will i be charged any customs fee's or anything like that
and just to confim - the above models will 'bolt on' easily to an 03 euro
edit - just noticed - the titan motorsports lineup, isnt RD nor SP, but rather an IS. is this still the same as the others
thanks.

I have dealt with TSXparts when I got my Pulley through there. Very efficient and easy to deal with. The only thing is they use Paypal only not credit cards.

Yeah, they can send you a Paypal invoice which you can pay using your credit card, without needing for you to sign up for Paypal.

$495 wow, thats a bit of a markup there. even importing it from the us + postage is only about AU$340

unless the postage cost $20usd and tax not being paid.
trust me our mark up is no where near that after proper import declaration and GST. and we offer warranty and stock full range of replacement parts in store. No waiting and you always know where to find us is anything goes wrong.

i wish JDM Yard could do a little cheaper, maybe even $400 cash and i'll pay for one :D
just got an email back from Norm at tsx parts for the Injen full CAI
US$238 + US$75 postage = US$313 = AU$$380
will shop around see what other poeples full prices are too :)
we'll see what we can do.
we have no control over government tax and all the custom charges.
ohh and i can always do group buy?
get few ppl together and we will work out something better for you guys
:)
just a reminder to everyone.
we JDMyard can never beat direct purchase of automotive parts from the origin countries no matter how good our discount is, we have to lodge proper import declaration for every single shipment of ours and there is no way to avoid it ( as small as $50 to as big as $50,000)
sorry for not being able to do any better.
how many people do you need for a group buy to get the price down to around, say, $400 ?
also can anyone confirm wether the titan motorsports short ram is exactly the same as the full injen cai (except that its in short ram format) and that it will still bolt on to the euro

would they rather aussie money being spent here, or overseas. the product is going to be imported anyway.

Thank you,
The installation went pretty smooth I got a full CAI, my cousin helped me install it since I have no idea and this is the first time me getting an intake installed. After looking at him installing it, its probably one of the easiest mods to install without needing any professional mechanics to do the job. Overall, it took us 3hrs in total. Yes it seems slow and if you gave it to a mechanic probably take 30mins... we were jking around and took the job in slow pace.
The instruction manual was pretty straight forward, if you have a general idea of whats going on then there shouldn't be any problems with reading the instruction guide.
We took the front bumper off to remove the air resonator and NO, no clips were broken ;)
May get some pics up later, too lazy now, with the polish looks nice in the engine bay, much better than stock. Even if I put up a video it would sound differently than what it would really sound.
Cheers, Alex

Now I had a little problem where there were something that kept coming loose. Everytime I reconnected it, it would pop back out after a drive. So then I decided to cable tie it together.
From what I was told it, the excess air that hasn't been burnt in the engine then goes through this tube and back into the intake system then back into the engine. So no big deal about it, but of course be better if it was connected.

No, that is the intake for the PCV system. Filtered air goes in there into the head, down into the crankcase, and flushes out oil vapour and crap like unburnt hydrocarbons from the crankcase, out through the PCV valve and into the intake manifold to be burnt away and released through the exhaust. Having it disconnected means unfiltered air gets into the moving parts area of your engine.
looks awesome, chrome all the way :)
thanks for pics

I also have the same problem. The hose just comes off all the time. For me, I just re-align it until I find the right angle and now it doesnt come off any more. I was told from my mechanic that that hose is some engine oil fume that is used to lubricate the valve mechanism as well. Also, you wouldnt want unfiltered air to get into ur intake. imagine if some dust getting into ur engine:(

It's not good, but I've seen people run with a hose connected to nothing for a few thousand kms and the engine is still fine. Considered getting some longer high temperature hose from Clark Rubber to stop it from popping out?

Weird that a mech can be mistaken by the PCV system as well.. Your valve mechanism is lubricated by the engine oil pumped up from your sump.

I've had a look at it today and the hose was still connected so my guess is it should be fine just cable tie them together :o
Thanks a lot aaron :)

If it holds, that's good. Many others have had the same problem with the tube popping out, so they should give your cable tie method a go.
