Hi there just have done an engine swap into my eg hatch. Originally was a
d15 carb engine now have replaced it with a d16y4 i have purchased the
d15b5? engine and ecu harnes as well as the ecu and td41u dizzy out of an eg sedan. from what i have read this should all just bolt in and work. The only thing i can see a problem with is that the idle advance valve on the
d15b5 is a 2 wire valve and the one on the d16y4 is a 3 wire. Can i do without the idle valve or is this a real necessaty for the ecu to work properly. Is there a conversion diagram for this, Can i just turn the idle up a little (i dont have air con) or will i simply have to go get the whole intake manifold of the d15 since the way the two idle valves mount are completly different. any help would be great.

the D16Y4 is not from a EG its from an EK

mechanicly yes its a bolt in, then you need to sort out your fuel lines and fuel pump.

wiring wise

depends on what ecu you use. if you going to use a OBDI ecu then stick wit the two wire IACV if yoru gonna use the OBDII ecu then you have to wire it up as if it was in the ek, and have the immo disabled in the ecu.

or buy a y8 intake manifold and throttle body
but make sure its manual cause i think the auto ones still have a 3 wire...

Yeah i know its from an ek. thats why i got the obd1 loom out of an eg sedan. I think it was the d15b inj motor. But found as i was pulling it out the iav was a 2 wire on the older harness and a 3 wire on the newer harness. Just wondering can the 3 wire one be setup to work like a 2 wire one. ( I take it it will be either open or closed not a pwm like the 3 wire one. Is that right.

no

you have to retrofit a 2wire IACV

I remmeber seeing a DIY on this on the web somewhere

i dont think this will help TRB03 though

the d16y4 is the motor with the 3 wire and the harness he has is a 2wire one...
i think will be easiest just get a y8 or y1 manifold and throttle body

i cant find any articles on how to make a 2 wire harness suit a 3 wire iacv plug
unless u get the d16y4 ecu pin out and try find which wires go to the iacv and run new wires

why put a d16y4 in from an Ek into an EG. So much headache and mucking around. So of chosen the d16y8 (EG Si engine) or the EG Vti engine.

good work ricer.
