i would like to know if anyone has stock dc2R dyno runs.

on one dyno, dyno dynamics in shootout mode i've seen 100-110kw but on a totally differnt dyno (i do not know the name) it's like 90-95kw these are both at the wheels

one of the tuners claim that dyno dynamics read 5-8% higher and also in shootout mode an increase of 10-15kw can bee seen, is this true?

i understand that there are many variables involved, eg temp, car (even if they are identical) tire pressure, type of dyno etc etc...but can there be such a big difference?

previously i had on my dc2R a CAI and catback tuned with a vafc and i hit 108kw with a dyno dynamics (did not state if it was in shoot out mode or not) 3 yrs later i placed it on a different dyno and it read 97kw:(

then i had headers put on with a tuned power fc on the same dyno and now it hits 113kw which sounds low, but according to the same dyno it actually had a 16kw gain with just headers and ecu tuning which sounds about right.

i am very confused can anyone help? or does anyone know where i can just do a run on a dynamics dyno just for comparision?

thanks in advance:thumbsup:

i'm guessing the dyno is reading low.

brisbane dyno day showed many b16's reading 100 - 110 with I/H/E.

Stock B16s were showing 92 - 95.

Thanks for your info, in that case the dyno must be reading really low since b16 are reading the same as b18c...will this affect the tune? or are dyno really just to show how the graph runs so that tuners can tune it regardless of figures?

if i add the 16kw gain ontop of the previous figure then i will be getting 124kw which sounds about right...

i guess the main qns is do figures really matter? how will i know if it is a good tune apart from the fact that the graph is smooth?

thanks again!

it shouldn't effect the tune.

Dyno's should only really be used as a comparative test (16kw gain that you mentioned)

the best way to test power/performance is at the drag strip. If you get beaten by a b16 in a car that is similiarly weighted to yours then you've got problems

thanks mate!

i get my car back tonight, so i guess i'll know after i drive it

cheers

To your original post, it wouldn't be weird to see power lose after 3 years, if the car is regularly driven... even if regularly maintained.

But yeah, ever dyno reads a differant figure... its stupid, but if you get a group of people run on the same dyno, on the same day, thats a good indication.

As for tuning... if your getting your car tuned by someone that knows what they are doing, and trying to get a even power band across the entire rev range (apposed to someone trying just go get max power) the last thing that they are going to look at is the final power. sure getting a high KW is always good... but whats the point if you take forever to get to it.

yeah i understand what your are saying, can't wait till i get my graph so i can see what type curve i get.

cheers mate

unfortunatly every dyno is different.........its too hard to compare power figures from different cars on different dyno's, i belive that the most accurate dyno's and hub dyno's
however like you state, that evertything is to be taken into consideration, the air temp, the cars, fuel used, first car, last car on dyno, the tyre presssures, the tension on the straps..........
its very hard to say..................
my car with headers, exhaust, custom cai, with stock 15inch dc2r wheels made 109kw at the wheels on roller dyno, the week after it made 127 kw at the hubs and the same day the vafc 2 was tuned and made 135kw at the hubs..........
on the day my car made 109kw there was an identical dc2r there that made 114 same mods all rouond, he was 2 cars before me......................
there are alot of factors to take into considreation........
like i said, i prefer hub dyno as it is the most accurate in my opinion.

thanks for sharing, i notice you are in melb, where abouts did you get your car tuned? maybe i can get a run just for comparison at a hub dyno?

when your car run 109 at the wheels where was the roller dyno that you ran at?

thanks

Dyno's are a great tuning tool, but that's about it. A number on a page is not an indication of performance. If you're car runs better than before, then where's the problem? Don't get caught up in the game of figures.

the hub dyno was wth james (aka BLKCRX) at rev zone in nunawading and the roller (109kw) was a protek............on dyno day....
i havnt used many tunerrs b4, but i would give my car to james to do what eva he wants with it any day, he knows what he is talking about and knows his honda's, if only i had met him b4 i got my vafc, i would have got a hondata...........
but dont worri, thats next with my turbo/...............

thanks for all the input guys!

i just got my car back and accordinly to the graphs i've got a 15kw gain for adding extractors and power fc, the car definate feels more responsive and much quiter in general, however the pull doesn't feel as great in the vtec range. 3rd gear vtec feels like the car is not moving anymore...is it possible that a car can be going faster but not feel it? if the graph was smooth i could understand but my graph is so lumpy...=( i might go an get a run on another dyno to see if there is a difference with the graph.

how do i post up images?

is it possible for a power FC to learn and correct itself?

everyone seems to reconmend chasers is there also another place anyone would reconmend? REV zone?

thanks again

i havnt taken my car to chasers, as they havnt done many hondas....
i would call and speak with james (hondatech)
he is a top bloke who will educate and talk to you about your car before you spend any money on it
pm me for his details
(james has a 400+ kw honda crx
and its been like that for 3 years, why wouldnt you trust his abiltiy to work with hondas???????)

No that's not normal, must be either configured wrong or you're reading the wrong thing.

honestly ive never heard any thing like that before, but like i said i havnt heard thast they done many hondas.
thats why i stick with James(aka BLKCRX) hondatech.
