Honda sales August 2007 (http://www.honda.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/internet/honda.com.au/home/news/honda+fifth+in+sales+race)

CTR only 138 sold ...
Do you think they will be able to sell 1200 in the first year allocated for Australia ?

Civics' sales on the other hand are very strong ..

Um, 2 things.

Firstly:
"The high-revving Civic Type R hatch (138) once again exceeded its target of 100 units for the month."

Secondly:
138 x 12 = 1656 > 1200

err they are allocated 100 per month and they sold 138. How is that `only` 138. Sounds like they are way ahead of the monthly target to reach 1200 for 12 month period.

So in theory if this keeps up Honda will have more chance of bringing in the jdm type r(r)?

What were the July figures?
how many of that 138 are from July?
usually just like anything, the first couple of months are normally higher because of the hype.

will be interesting to see how long it can sustain figures like these...

That's it's first full month of sales. Do you think they can keep it up for 12 months? Hornsby Honda have had the same 3 in the showroom for the past 2 weeks.

GTI for the past 18 months has continuously sold over 300 cars per month.

that's exactly my point. As soon as all CRT fans get their cars sales figure will drop below 120, no doubt about this

any reason to why Honda Australia decided againts the JDM Civic Type r ( four door)? to help boost the uk produced ctr? australians leaning towards more european flavour?

Maybe honda wanted to introduce a hot hatch segment since after the ek versions. im actually quite jealous that malaysia just recently introduced the jdm type r but with a cool price tag of RM199,990 = AUD69,032.52

Bless those ppl

you could live there, buy it for AU$28k, stay there for a year, and then bring it back if you want. might come close to costing as much as a local model, but will be better.

So you're asking how many of the 138 Month of August sales are from July? lol

figures are not always what you seem to mean they think.
I know from my local dealer, cars sold in July if they are to be delivered in Aug are counted towards Aug sales to "boost" their numbers

lol i laughed at that.

but then again they were taking pre-orders since July so sort of classify as July sales. Actual sales made in the month of August would be a different story

honda should throw in free ozhonda membership if people buy it in the month of september..

can't see the sales figures keep going this strong for much longer because:

as with any new car model, the 1st few mths of sales represents many dealer demos, press cars for the motoring press, die hard fans who had been waiting for the car to arrive onto the market, on top of the number of usual car buyers.

another new car just came onto the market - its called the new WRX. It's the same price as the CTR, but has 2 extra doors, turbo, 4wd, and made in Japan! Enough said.

Hopefully Honda Australia will bring in the 4 Dr version within the next year or two, afterall the marketing $ they've spent on the CTR branding so far will be better justified and the Thai built 4 dr will cost them less to bring in with the exchange rate situation.

Why so much negativity? I dont get it. The CTRs are here i am sure Honda will be fine if they meet their projected sales or not. Whats the point of this post? Im sure they did alot of market research and forecast so yeah lets just wait and see.

I think the thoughts washing around in the undercurrent may be that we're all interested to see that those 1200 FN2Rs will get moved along asap as (IIRC from a post *somewhere*), the FD2R won't be offered until such time the allocated 1200 are sold <- whether there's any truth to this, I dunno.

No negativity about the sales numbers, just keen to see the FN2R's pass through the system so that any potential outcomes for the FD2R can be brought to the forefront!.

btw, the JDM FD2 Civic Type R 4 door is not made in Thailand.

sport hot hatch! compare to a sport sedan..

which1 sounds better? to the eyes of non honda lovers?

price of a civic sedan type R will be above 40 K and might as well higher then accord lux ..

coz we are on honda forums :p for sure we wants the JDM FD2R :p instead of the ugly FN2R aahaa!!

That's not true. Sales figures are based on sold, delivered and reported cars to the manufacturer. Dealerships complete warranty commencement online and it is recorded on the database for Honda. These figures must be forwarded to the manufacturer before COB at month end. VFACTS is forwarded these figures for market research. Now what's really funny is that dealer demonstrators fall into the same category as sold cars. Let's hope that demos were removed from the report.

demos and honda australia/press cars are not included in sales figures.

the 100 car allocation is correct however dealerships have sold cars in advance of shipment.. thus 138 sales for the month.. means there's only 62 CTRs unallocated from the next month's shipment.

test-drives have slowed slightly however as someone said those who initially dont like the styling of the FN2 are tending to come around - jsut like when the EK replaced the EG etc.. so we're seeing differnt types comming in to test drive now.. and believe me when i say ALL types are buying the FN2 !! it's quite amazing how it's attracting a LOT of traditionally non-honda customers..

as for the FD2-R comming to australia i wouldnt expect it to come in 2008/2009 however the civic facelift is due in 2009/2010 so THAT would be a perfect time to introduce the sedan as the flagship for the facelift introduction..

plus with the new Euro, Accord and Jazz comming in 2008/2009 I doubt honda would interfere with the marketing hype and momentum in that model year.

Actually, it's the local dealer's fault for the low test drives. A few of them use the stupid excuse of putting a deposit down first and then only going for a test drive. :thumbdwn:

Or, put a deposit down and I'll open it for you. I'd have my DP kick my ass so far off the yard I'd sail past the moons of Jupiter.

No car deserves that kind of arrogance. During GTIs peak sales period in Feb-May 06 we were test driving as many people as we could. The car is there to be driven FFS.

those dealers would be fools. its only a $40k car afterall.

up here in Bne, they can't wait to hand u the keys for test drives. we have no problem getting test drives at 3 dealers.
