Hey Everyone,
I have recently installed Spoon Prog. Springs & KYB AGX Shocks. I like the shocks, the rebound and absorbsion have surpassed my standards. However, My car is too low now. I want a good stiff spring that will go well with my shocks. Although a mate (JDM_DC2) Has 5Zigen Coils + KYB Shocks and they seem to be a hell of a lot stiffer. The shocks are the same except I think mine may be a newer model.
Basically I'm wondering what a good spring would be and im willing to pay. It would be great if suggestions could include a dealer (Melbourne Prefered).
Keeping in mind stiffness is what im after. However, I don't want my car to be too Low! Must be at least Legal Height.
I have been looking at Eibach, Tein or Koni. Which would you recommend, and for what reasons?!
Thanks,
Andrew.

Spoon also have available,
Straight Spring in 10,12,14,16,18 & 20 kg/mm
Are you saying your Spoon progressives are too low? If so the don't bother with the Straights.

Yeah, I can't even fit a coke can under my side skirt. Way too low for me. Looks pretty good. But i'd rather have a medium between height and looks.
Any other recommendations?
I have read several other threads but im not sure of exact pricing and specific recommendations.
Thanks.

what about trying some type r springs?

The Type R Springs aren't stiff enough, are they? I want a fairly stiff spring. and i don't want progressive. My experience with progressive is they are soft until pushed hard. I want a constant stiff and ridgid feeling.

I have Type R shocks and springs and it's quite stiff yet fairly comfortable for me, the front springs are straight 4.4kg/mm and the rear springs are progressive 2.5-4.4kg/mm, whereas VTi-R rates are about 2.5kg/mm I think. In Type R's it's the shocks that have quite strong damping force giving a very solid ride.
Spoon progressives are 3.6-6.5kg/mm front and 2.0-5.5kg/mm rear.
I think your solution may be coilovers, as most decent brand straight springs will likely be too low.

Since ive bought the suspension to outlay more money for coilovers is going to empty my pockets. I am interested in the ISC Coilovers but not sure if you need Type R LCA's. I already Outlayed over $1300 for my Setup now and I dont think I could really get that much for them even though ive only had them on for 3 weeks. If i could sell my current setup for $1000 i would be happy.
Ive been told that what i have is stiffer than an R. But I still want a stiffer sussy setup, as well as something to lift the car up a little.
Thanks.

If the ISC stuff is made for Type R then you will need LCA's, otherwise not.

Does the KYB AGX Shocks have adjustable spring mounts?

I think no... it's not coilover...
but i wonder why AGX with spoon springs will be that low since it's just a 1-1.5 max drop which is not very low, can even put a can of coke plus maybe 1-2 fingers

nope only damper adjustments

It could be that the KYB shocks have the spring mounts lower than the location on the stock shocks, so it makes the drop larger than specified by Spoon (they compare using stock dampers)

Didn't think of that. Good point though. If so I wonder if i could get my money back. As my car is too low. I cant even fit a coke can under the side skirt. Very Very annoying.
I find it hard to believe that any shock absorber company let alone KYB would do that.
Maybe its just me. The car isnt too low to drive....i just dont like my car that low. It probebly has only been lowered 1-1.5".
Thanks Guys.

lmfao.
*stabs T-one* ;)
Arrrg so annoying.
Anyone had any experiences with shocks before. They lower the mounting points? Doesnt say anything about it on the KYB site.
Also do springs vary between DC2 and DC2R?

lol, didn't see the bit in red.
The spring rate and height vary. DC2 rears are straight and I think the fronts are progressive correct me if i'm wrong

Have you tried comparing the distance from the lower damper mount to the lower spring perch for both the KYB and stockies?

jdmyard had a few sets awhile ago. there hard to come by.
i've got them on my car at the moment. stiff as hell, running on stock shocks too. they lower u car not to low low. about 2 finger tips from the tyre to the guard on the back, the front about 1 tho.
i kinda get frustrated sometimes on how stiff they are lol
