As far as I'm aware, the Varis one isn't OEM looking. The one I have seen isn't anyway.

The only OEM ones I have seen are hondar's ones and Spoon.

I stand corrected...

Are they full C/F or just a C/F overlay on fibreglass?

hahaha

its like a mullet -ie business up the front party down the back

in other words i guess hes gone for style with bigger rear rims and gone for quicker acceleration with the standard size (or smaller) on the front.

who knows!? :P

just put a deposit on the cf bonnet and will be here next week hopefully
=)
will post up pic after that to assure his quality is good coz for $650 is quite a good price.

lol Jus, for $650 not fully CF of coz but still light since Jazz bonnet stock already very light due to the size.

Stock weight is about 7kgs from memory. Spoon CF is just over 3kgs I think. Mugen is a similar weight.

TypeG make sure you weigh your new one before it goes on.

TypeG

sure
I will give u guys some figure but even frebreglass is lighter than factory one anyway so i assume that one will be fine.
Also I am after the look only or i will get Varis one since it is just over $1k anyway delivery from HK

bonnet about 4 kg weight and fit perfectly just like the stock bonnet
u can feel it is very light when u open the bonnet after it fit in....
cant take pic since there is some marks on the bonnet due to the buddle paper being on too long i think
will take pic after polish it but i vote for that guy since the quality and fittment is just perfectly from my past cf bonnet

guys just wanna ask if you add a cf bonnet on the jazz will it u still need to comply with the insurance company?

Jus-10
17-08-2004, 08:26 AM
I believe the issue of insurance will come back to the issue of legality which has been debated before.

Fibreglass bonnets are illegal, and as such TypeG's would appear to be in that category because it is fibreglass with CF overlay.

At the moment there doesn't appear to be any legeslation about 100% CF bonnets so technically these could possibly be legal at this stage, but then that has never stopped police trying to defect you. Also remember that bonnets can be an integral part in the way the front end collapses in a front-on accident and they are designed in a specific way. Most aftermarket bonnets will not be ADR approved. Think about how much damage a CF bonnet would do when it is twice as strong as steel, and then if/when it breaks in an accident it is going to snap in half and splinter....imagine copping that through your windscreen....

TypeG
17-08-2004, 11:04 AM
lol
every mod is illegal and if cop wanna catch u, they willl be there beside yr cars
just because cf bonnet is a bit too obvious compare to all other mod so... as long as it looks good, i dun care since i saw so many cars with cf bonnets in melbourne espcially s2k.....

tanghy
17-08-2004, 02:37 PM
i think the point is not if cops catch you or not.
it's more of "will insurance pay out if yr bonnet is fibreglass and you're involved in some big crash and your life is hanging on a limb.."

Yeah road laws are always tricky as they vary so much from state to state.I saw a cf bonnet at the honda parts distributors in Caloundra and it weighs 4 kg.Cost was $600
I saw the photos etc of all the kits but im also not sure that the CF suits all the colours. If i had a black one id probably get it painted.
