Hello all, I did a search and cant find a thread on this.
I purchased a Euro new at the end of April 2007 and there was a bonus on that month that included a free 5 year warranty with roadside assistance. Since the ads I had seen stated that it was for cars bought and delivered in April I asked the dealer if I would still get it and was told yes. The car was delivered in May and I got all the other stuff at the time 12 month rego, CTP, stamp I think and waited to be contacted re the 5 year warranty.
I called Honda Australia the other day and they say they have no record of it and to call the dealer. The dealer says no I got the May bonus that was free comprehensive insurance but I didn’t want or get this and insured the car myself. Free comprehensive insurance was not even mentioned at delivery but the 5 year warranty was. The dealer has not returned my call.
Honda Australia now says send them the contract but no part of the bonus is even mentioned in it and they know this. I think I am about to be shafted big time.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

Get ready for a legal dispute and $$$ in a solicitor if you intend to get "free" 5 year warranty.
Get some legal advice and present them with everything you have of " evidence" of the dealer quoting this to you. Because if it was simply the guy saying " yes" in effort to sell you the car , it will be very very hard to prove this ever happened. Good luck

Always get extra warranty written in the contract. Who wouldn't?

Agreed....... I thought I did everything right but didn’t get the bonus in print because I thought everyone was getting it that month. The lesson is get everything on the contract even the full tank of fuel I didn’t get. I am told that the 5 year warranty is $795 so its an expensive mistake.

Any company/business can turn nasty quite quickly against you if you give them attitude , so be careful about your wording and think clearly. Dont let emotion get in the way :)

An idiot who saw the ads saying "Free 5 year warranty with every euro sold (and delivered) in April"......Me. I also cant see anything in the contract that says it comes with doors or seats. Maybe they will remove them at the 10K sevrice:mad:

No, word of mouth a a form of contract.
^ Documents are still king. Did you have a witness with you at the time of delivery? If you do that will help.

Anyway, if the date of purchase of your Euro coincides with the free 5 year warranty promotion period, Honda Australia can enter into the system to extend your warranty from 3 to 5 years. That's what happens when you buy the extended warranty anyway. So send a copy of your contract over to Honda Australia and if your purchase date is valid, they should be able to do something about the warranty.

um... been out of Oz for 8 months now and missed out all these stuff...
But AFAIK, isn't the so-called "extended warranty" restricted you only able to service in that dealer? Which means if you take your car to be serviced else where then this warranty is voided?

With the civic fd, you get 3 years full warranty and an additional 2 years warranty covering up to $1000 in parts. There is a term for it but i forgot what its called. So basically if it costs more than $1k, you need to fork out the excess. Alternatively, you can purchase 2 years full warranty for like $800 which also gives you roadside assist.

I called Honda Australia yesterday and asked just that question and they said as long as Honda parts are used then it should be OK. I was told in the beginning that Honda lubricants had to be used too but then after a few phone calls that equivalents could be used. I also asked what it would cost if I had to buy it and was told $795 but if its not included I wont be paying for it. I’ve already had the rattles aren’t covered by warranty speech and my car is only 4 months old.

anything should be covered for the first 3 years... we had the rattle before (at the rear cabin) and they just checked and i think they trimmed the edge then the sound was gone...lol
anyway... reliability should be one of the factor for you chosen Honda,,, if you looked after your car good.. i do not really think something big can be happened...
We used to have a MDX for 4 and half years,,, and apart from well-known minor issues nothing had happened!
Euro is another reliable vehicle with a touch of sporty,,, and up to date i do not recall any major issues rather than the alignment problem with the 17" wheels...

No, it is an extended factory warranty, not a dealer extended warranty. The cover is the same as the original warranty.

After 6 months Honda Australia caved and sent me the roadside assist card and warranty last week dated to the cars delivery date in May.
Thanks to everyone who responded.
