Hi after 80000km i have installed a heavy duty sprots clutch. Icant remember what brand it was but i do know it was not an original honda. Anyway it took the mechanicc 3 days to have this installed. Now i feel that the clutch is very sensitive. I dont know how to explain it but its extremly jerky unless you accelerate a little bit at the same time. It seems to be getting worse. When you touch the accelerator without haveing the clutch in a little bit it like catchs and jerks. Does anyone know if this is a comon occurance of if the clutch was installed incorrectly. Any advice would be great? Or even if someone knows some in Sydney who knows what they are doing and can have this fixed for me. Colins Honda at rockdale nsw says they cant fault it but i feel that i know how my car drives and i feel its not the saame. Thanks

Which clutch did you put in? If you put in a more aggressive material like Exedy Organic, then the biting will be harder and jerkier than stock.

Yeah it was an exedy. not sure about whether it was an organic or not. it cost around $700 if i can remember correctly. Should it be alot more jerk as in at times the driving becomes uncomfortable? Can this be fixed of does the clutch need to be replaced? COuld it have been an incorrect install?

A new clutch needs to wear in for a couple of weeks or so, so clutch usage will be harsh initially. Give it a couple of weeks and see how it is then.

If the clutch is disengaging/jerking by itself while accelerating (with your foot completely off the clutch), then there's probably an alignment problem.

So the clutch disengages by itself? Has it always been that way since it was installed?

Perhaps they didnt put the correct clutch in, and used a DC5 one instead or something.

Ummm its been very rough....... iam not sure about disengaging itself..... well to an extent i feel that it does.... but whats your classification of disengaging itself? Maybe i was sold the wrong clutch but i put it from shire clutches in nsw and i gave them the exact model o fmy car....... what do you think i should do????? cause honda collins couldn't fault it?

Well the stock clutch can be jerky as well during low RPM.

What RPM are you clutching at? I find I need to rev above 2000rpm to get a smooth clutch transition. This would be amplified with a heavy duty clutch.

Clutch at 2000rpm+ and see how that goes.

Yeah i see what you mean but its like feels like it catches late. So like say 3RPM second gear..... car slowing down....... tap the accelerator a little bit to accelerate.... car will the make a jerk with only the slightest touch. does this sound normal?

If you are slowing down, then push hard on the accelerator, the DriveByWire throttle will delay the acceleration for 500ms and then accelerate hard. Is that what you mean?

If that happens when you lightly push the accelerator, then that doesnt seem normal.

What you need to do is take the car back to where you got the clutch installed, and get one of their mechs to hop in the car then drive around and show them exactly how to replicate the problem.
