Hi,
I just talked to someone at Allsprings as i want to lower my car. He told me if i'm just after lowering the car for looks, i can just compress the stock springs instead of changing the springs for a new one. He said by compressing the springs, its keeps its comfort the same. Is this true? or should i change the springs altogether?
Would there be any problems with compressing the springs?

Compressed springs will bottom out most of the time and will sag in due course.

Still need to spend the money getting the springs out and you have to wait longer to get the springs compressed.

Unless you can take the springs out yourself and save on labour there is absolutely no benefit, IMO.

I wouldnt recommend Compressed, my mate had them in his civic a while ago and OMG that car bounced about like mad. Plus more than 3 people in his car would bottom out.

Just get lowered springs....400 for whitelines sounds about right but you can find some cheaper. But whiteline ftw

For an extra $100, u can get a brand new set of springs and also keep your old springs IF you decide to go back to stock.

I think from all the responses, your mind should be made up alraedy to go new springs.

Yeh deffinatly hey...you might need to keep the stockies just in case if a cop wants to give you a Yellow sticker...plus compressed springs are soo dodgy...

he's a business man...he just probably didnt see any potential for repeat business from u so he opted not to take care of u...

anywayz...u did the right thing man, check things out for yourself by asking others who've experienced that part/mod firsthand rather than believing the person selling it...even worse..ads on a magazine or ebay...

The thing is dude, for Whiteline springs he probably gets them for $300-350 and charges u $400 and makes the 100-50 dollars on labour. with compressed springs...he pulls ur stockies out compresses them or gets a mate to and charges u $300 so insted of a $50-100 profit he makes $300.

find a 2nd hand lowered springs that hasnt travel much or get a new lowered spring.

NEVER get a compressed spring.. its just totaly suck.. and screw up the compressions ratings on it.
