Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there is an older season one episode that reviews the 2Ltr Accord as a contender against the likes of BMW, Mercedes & Jaguar.

Those 2 vids were taken on the autobahn. No way can we do that here except on the track. My engine has seen 20 minute sessions of 4000-7200rpm non-stop for a total of 90 minutes. :)

*blue smoke expels out of Aaron's exhaust* :p

I'm afraid to hit 7200rpm for 100ms let alone 15secs+

Nope, no blue smoke, no oil consumption over 6 months/9000km. In winter, there is just the usual steam coming out, but my coolant level doesn't change either.

I seriously doubt reving an engine frequently in is designed rev range with good oil and service would have any negative impact on reliability power.

Car makers well over engineer an engine for worst case senario's so they are well under-stressed.

Well "maybe" you will get only 370 000km out of your euro before a rebuild instead of 400 000kms. but who cares?

That video was fine cause the engine was under load at 7000rpm. Much better than free reving on the bearinsg etc

Yup, I've read that each trackday shortens your engine life by about 10,000km. Of course, that's assuming that the engine is fully warmed up, you're using a suitable viscosity oil (fresh of course) and that you don't misshift nor lug the engine. :)

Same goes for thrashing the engine while its cold. Each time you rev high when cold, it lessens the life of the engine. Perhaps 1000km I guess
