IS it when you put it into first gear or when you release the clutch?

If the former then you have some clutch drag. Probably just need to bleed the fluid.

I used to have a clunking noise coming from the rear of the car exactly as you described it. Turned out to be the diff, the backlash was not adjusted properly, i was told it can cause premature wear to the crown and pinion if not rectified.

Ended up installing a spoon 1.5 way lsd got it installed by a diff specialist, he set up the back lash etc and its running perfectly now.

Its a setting in your diff.

From what i can gather, there is a noise when u release the clucth and take off, and then a clunking noise (from the back end??) when u change gears. Are u saying all noises are comming from the one place taking off or changing gears. Are there any unusual gear box noises?

ok ok... heres the full scenario..

i come out in the morning everything still cold.. its all good.. no clunk nothing.. then when i drive a while everything heats up is when clunking comes to play..

im completely stopped.. i put my foot on clutch and put in 1st gear.. as soon as i put it in 1st i get a "clunk".. (clunk before i even take my foot off clutch) then i take off everything seems fine at this point.. i go to change to 2nd gear.. put foot on clutch put into 2nd gear... as soon as my foot releases the clutch "clunk" and yes this is coming from the back.. im assuming its diff.. ive already changed diff oil.. didnt really do much..

thanks for your help guys much appreciated..

Ok well like Aus said u might have clutch drag, bleed ure lines and top up with some new fluid, see what happens.

i hope it is mate.. cos i cant afford for anything serious to happen at the moment.. all bucks have been spent getting the car.. oh wellz.. ill bleed the clutch system and hopefully that will do the trick..

thanks guys.. really much appreciated..

ok so ive bleed my lines.. still the same.. ive tried to adjust the clutch pedal.. but WITH or WITHOUT free play the friction point is still the same.. and when i bleed the lines.. there didnt seem to be like any sort or air in the system..
