hey atm im looking at either a garrett T3/T04 .57 trim with a .48 A/R
Has anyone had eny experience with this turbo on their honda?
I have a B18B and looking at different turbos at the moment and i think its a toss up between this and the .63 a/r but i think the 63 will be too big for my application.
My car is going to be a daily and want full boost around 4000-4500rpm so i dont mind a bit of lag jsut dont want it kicking in too late as my limiter is 7000rpm.
any other suggestions on turbos? Wont be getting a gt series as they are out of my budget. thanks.

what is your budget champ? usually 2nd hand GT28Rs is around 1k, perfect for your setup :)

well im looking at getting most of the stuff from the states. and the t3/t4 hybrids that are vry popular there go for around 500-600 USD.
would a gt28rs put out more power compared to a t3.t4
also anyone know which would be more efficient at around 8psi?

im dont know the specs on the t3/t4, from what i have seen there are many many variations and copies of these style turbos. The Gt28rs *aka Disco Patatoe is rated at 440hp.
should be pretty good between 1.8 - 2.2 L and has the ability to pump high should you ever need it.

Gt2871r?
i had a 57 trim t3/t4 turbo with a 0.48 turbine housing on my car a few years back, i thort it was ok, until i changed to a t3/t60-1 with a 0.63 a/r turbine housing..... i was expecting this to have heeps more lag! it actually spooled up much faster and had heeps more top end. the 57 trim with the 0.48a/r was much more flatter in the power band.
pm if your intested in this combo as my turbo/hi-mount manifold and 38mm waste gate are for sale.

ok i have decided it will definatley be a t3/t04e but i dont know between a .48 or a .63 a/r on the hot side?
anyone know what would be best for a b18b?
compression ratio? (stock or lowered?)
how much boost are you planning to run?
how much additional power do you want?
ecu re-tune? FMIC? intake/exhaust? etc?

compression ratio? (stock or lowered?) STOCK
how much boost are you planning to run? Around 8 psi
how much additional power do you want? want some upgradability later
ecu re-tune? FMIC? intake/exhaust? etc? crome/will def use front mount/for now will only use 2.25 exhaust
hey, i told lvnit this, but i will repeat.
we had the .63 on mrjdm's car. It spool fullboost around 5500rpm. It made 30more kw at fullboost when compared to his old skyline t3. Its a great turbo which held torque till 8000+rpm.
But u are running a low rev b18b. it has a little more capacity but not the topend of the b16a. For this reason i may lean closer to the .48 housing. U will gain about 500rpm spool.... But that said, the .48 housing may be a little too small for the compressor.. it changes the charactoristics of the turbo a little. Its ahard choice, but in the end i think the .48 on a stock engine will do u well! Worse comes to worse, u can swap it out for a .63 later on...
Either way, this is a mean turbo if u cant afford a GT series :)

FYI DL001 is running a b18c7 with a 1.01 rear housing and he made 204 atw's. and trust me it spools up quickly.
If i was running a turbo on my car i'd probably use a .86 rear housing (b16a).
I would never go any smaller then a .63 housing mainly due to the higher compression ratio of a stander NA motor.

yeh i know the GT series have the quick spool and bigger rear housing but i dont wnat to shell out that much. a lot of people in the states seem to be running this turbo and having good figures.
thanks weq, so you think the .48 will reach full boost around 5000? im not looking for gobs of power but will this still have a bit of a kick?
these turbos are rated for 400-450 hp so im sure it should go alright? =p lol
Hows the Z going? anything after that dyno day?
Jason thanks for the info. I have a b18b so it redlines at 7000 i jsut dont want somethign that will spool too late as i dont have the topend as vtec engines do.

Also one thing Weq.
was the turbo you were using a 50, 57 or 60 trim?
