View Full Version : Is It Worth spending money modifying a VTIR?
My friend with a Type R told me to not waste money modifying my VTIR. He told me to just get another car like a SR20... Turbo to me is lame, i like my NA vt@kking sound. Its the sound of a real race car that makes me really love it.
I told him that you have lost faith in your DC2s, he replied back saying, "no just your dc2". I was like wtf...
I have added new 17" rims, rays lug nuts, front strut bar, lower arm bar, and 32 way adjustable coilovers. You guys should see how my car handles around corners. Real responsive and fast around corners. My aim is to make a JDM integra, only modifying parts with JDM parts.
So what do you guys think? Am i wasting my money?

yep NICE choice of words.! .. like he sed "simple" .!

Its never worth the money. All mods are sunk costs.
Do it because you want it. Passion!
But ask yourself what are you after ultimately...and then work on how you're gonna get there. Whether its modifying your current car or getting another one.
Im mature enough to know what im doing and mature enough to know what advice to take in and throw out whats rubbish. But having a friend who diss you're own car pisses me off lol... My friend doesn't even know much about cars as much as me. I ask him if he wanna track his car later on this year with me and the boys.
He responded back "what for?"
I said "for fun?" "Type R is built for tracking, you should join us"
"I don't find it fun, you're just wasting you're money, just get a new car"
DL001 hows your turbo Teg going? take me for a ride in a vt@kking turbo? :D

I have a slow car, everyone on Ozhonda, and Australia knows that. but i still put in nice suspension. fast in the corners ;) welll not really.
be proud of what you have. not everyone gets to own a nice honda like an integra VTiR.
VTIR are now so affordable... you can pick up a good one for around 10k easy.
Anyways the mods will continue, i aint into straight line racing, im into lap times.

i've seen some dc2s with minor bolt-ons beat dc2rs. Don't let your friend discourage you.

Continue your project, say no to NISMO!
He owns a Type R guys. The impression that i get from him is that he thinks VTIR are a POS, probaly thinks VTIR are try hard Type R.

go VTi-R because if you're going to build the motor at any stage, you're going to replace all the ITR stuff anyway

at the end of the day there's always gonna be another person with a faster car than you, whether down the strip or around a track.
you can spend thousands of dollars only to be beaten by somebody else....
so...modify it to how YOU want it...if your mate thinks its a POS, good on him...it's not his car....if you love it to bits...then thats all that matters!

ur mates just scared he's going to be beaten by a vtir...
rather be beaten by a nissan and say shiet like it was turbo....

haha yeah. When a 33 rolls up beside me, revving hard, 10+ bar, I'm like:
"how the fork do you compare my N/A vt@k to your t04z under there?"
but it's still exhilarating to show them you'll try :D

dw about the nissan fags, im starting to convert all my mates into buying honda (1 being nissan fanboy) ;) so far my tally is 3. hey my mates can kick the shit out of my EK1 civic, like i care anyway. im at uni, i got 2 jobs and i need my cash $$ once i get a full time job, a $3-$5k engine swap will mean peanuts to me, rather than now which would engulf most my savings and leave me as one poor 19 uni student! and im not including the sorta money they throw at finance major post graduates which is like $80k-$120k per year not including bonus's, and thats like starting salary (assuming i can get my honours ;D).
with that kinda money i can probably get an NSX! for me im more in the long haul. tbh i wouldnt buy an NSX, id rather spend about $20k on buying a EK (my fav body shape) that needs some panel work, do it ALL myself, spray myself, engine swap myself (something insane like a boosted k24) and strip that car clean. exactly the same way that guy with the gold EG k20 did here. thats my aspirations.
i honestly forgot the point of my post, im too self involved but i think i was trying 2 say we all got different goals and just focus on your own project :D
My new goal is to beat a Type R now. LOL

Type-R: track tuned
Vti-R: street tuneable
Not to say that one can't be the other. But that's how I see it basically.

You are only pumping out 109.9kw atw on a low reading dyno. Dont tell fibs.

Imma Noob, but this is my two cents
If your goner mod your dc2 like you say you are, then you might as well save the money and get a dc2r, cause the parts your goner swap into your dc2 will most likely be dc2r parts if you really want to keep it all JDM. And do you want your Vti R to be original or just another one of those dc2r replicas?

damn u mattt.
if ur gonna replace ur parts with jdm parts, why dont u just get a real jdm vtir? comes with all the goodies like folding mirrors, no side moudlings, climate control etc. and it maybe the same price
Its not gonna be a lookalike type R or a JDM Teg, its still gonna be a AUD VTIR. Its gonna have modified parts only made from japan.
Although i already broke that rule by having K&N CAI and replacing my hoses for either SAMCO or Zenracing ones, was gonna get SPOON hoses but i can't justify the cost in that. I guess APEXI aint japanese anymore, but they originated from Japan lol

Folding mirrors :unlove: I wish I had those. People always seem to 'accidently' bump into mine at car parks. What they don't know beforehand is that I'm still sitting there

jdm = folding mirrors. well that settles it :p
and spoon parts are some of the most overpriced ive ever seen...
anyway, u seem happy with ur vti-r and since u prob wont be at the track enough to justify the increased spending for a dc2r, i rekon jus stick with ur dc2 and do whateva u want to it :)
