Hello Fellow Ozhonda'ings
My mate has a really nice 05 model Euro Luxury (auto) which has a strange issue?
When going 100km (or higher) and when he brakes, the steering wheel vibrates and shudders violently?
I myself own a EK sedan, so ive never experienced something like it before, but i suggested it may have been:

a) ABS?
b) Warped brake Rotors?
c) Wheel Allignment?

He said it has only started happening since his last service? but i personally have felt the shuddering at high speed braking since i first rode in the car (quite a while ago)

so any advice / help you could give me to pass on would be great :)
Thanks guys!

Brake deposits on the rotor. It's very common with the Euro. The first thing he can try is to change to aftermarket pads. If he has machined his rotors before for this problem, then it might be rotor warp as the thinner rotor is more succeptible to warp.

Agree. It's got to be brake deposits on the rotors.03-05 model OEM pads were known for this.Apparently 06 onwards OEM pads resolved this problem.Put aftermarket pads on and i think it'll solve your problem.02 Legend pads also fit apparently so if you want to stick with OEM this is a good option.

i think it may be that the rotors are warpped causing brake shutter. tell him to get his rotors/discs machined when he changes his brake pads next time.

before i had a 03 euro. the first ones that came out. I toom experineced the shaking at that speed. I brang it back to the delears and they said it needed to be machine. After that it fixed trhe problem. I think they also changed the pads too. If that helps

I've got a mild case of this aswell. It may well just be the OEM pads, but out of intrerest, is the machining expensive, and is that something the dealers could do when they are servicing the car or would a brake speacialist need to do it?

What pads would you reccommed as a replacement to the OEM (03 model) without breaking the bank?

Replace pads first and see if that fixes the problem,it's probably deposits on the rotors from the pads.Endless seem to be a good pad,one of the traders here sell them

I use Hawk Performance Ceramic pads from the US. Was about AU$270-290 landed here for both front and rear sets.

I too have also experienced this problem. First occurred about 30,000km and had the brake rotors machined which fixed the problem for 10,000km or so before it returned. The shuddering became that bad that it felt very unsafe to drive, particularly down twisty roads. The last service I had I mentioned that it was still doing it and they just said they would simply replace them as they were under warranty. I ended up with new rotors, calipers and pads  No problems yet.

The OEM brake pads are crap.

I had the front brake rotors machined at about 30,000km and the pads changed after having this problem. That fixed it until about 58,000km at which point I had the rotors and pads replace with OE. But, I think it's not too hard to warp the rotors on the Euro.

A Magna I had once also had weak brake rotors. Or maybe I'm too hard on them.

I only had this problem when my rear brakes were wearing thin. Once I replaced the rear brakes, it was fine.

Hope this helps

would this also cause a shuddering in the brake pedal during braking? i just noticed it happened a couple of times in my auto euro.

Yes, brake deposit is the #1 cause of shuddering. In the Euro's case, rotor warp only happens after you machine the rotors. The reason why brake deposit occurs is because of the poor brake pad material, which when pressed against the hot rotors at the traffic lights leaves deposits which make the surface uneven. If you haven't machined your rotors yet, changing to an aftermarket pad will fix this as shown by many of the guys over at tsx.acurazine.

Honda have his Euro at the moment and are going to replace the brakes altogether. For free!
The funny thing is they said they thought there was a problem when they were servicing it before, but didnt think to mention anything! and they are still complaining that they don't need to be fixed.

I have my front brake pads claimed twice, front rotors once, read pad and rotors once all under warranty.

There is no reason they can't/don't fix it.

Now you think i am a hoon, definately not, the dwb is so jerky that i have to shift gear before 2.5krpm everytime, so i am no where near "fast". Only reason that i can think of so many brake changes is that i wash my wheel when it's hot.

shhhh.......
