EG Weight

Hey guys,
I was just curious about the owners of EG Civics that have run either 12s with K20a motors or low-mid 13s with the B18. Is that in stock trim ie no seats, sound deadening removed, just motor dropped in and a bit of sussy work? I'm asking this because I would like a stereo in the car as well and yeah it weighs about 50kg all up. As a result, by putting a stereo in the car wouldnt it defeat the whole purpose of an engine transplant? :p

Also, the k20a and B18 motors that pop up for sale in the for sale section for the 8-9k mark that gurantee low 13 times. Are they 'fully worked' as in you cant go any faster, or can you upgrade more parts to it? Sorry a bit of a Noob, just saw 'motor 8.5k guranteed 13 sec times' and got excited haha

920kg is about what ur aiming for

they are stock motors, and you can run 12's if you know how to drive it and have slicks and the weight i mentioned

yeah im pretty sure the EK weighs a little more then the EG.

A stock EG weigh 1051kg while the EK weigh 1105kg, therefore the Ek weighs 54kgs more than the EG.

you also have to consider which model EK vs. which model EG

differences among the models are: power windows, aircon, sunroof, swaybars, front chassis bars, different engines, abs, airbags..

well id say CXi EK vs GLi EG

i mean wouldnt GLi EK be a bit heavier due to power settings?

and as for motors afaik the only difference in the EFi D series is D15 and D16 so a slight increase in capacity

So which model of EG is lighter? Gli or Si?

probably the Gli, im not familiar with what sort of options come on the EG's but i imagine the Si would have probably central locking, power windows, DOHC, (sunroof?) etc.

Pretty much 1 seat left and close to half tank of fuel

I looked at a thread somewhere on this forum which stated the cheap eg model weighed 1016kg and the Vti model (sunroof, central locking etc) was 1029kg.

EG5- So you ran a mid 12 with just the drivers seat? how about sound deadening, backseats etc? Everything stripped. I'm keen to do a swap in an EG civic, but I would like it to be a low 13 sec car in standard trim ie front/back seats, sound deadening stereo etc. Am I being too ambitious?

No it can be done with proper setup. JDM k20a motor with bolt-ons, K-pro ECU and tuned will be easy low 13's in street trim.

As for B18c/B20 vtec, can be possible also. Really comes down how deep your pockets are.
