Hi,

Sooo..not so long ago i changed my ATF ( about 2 months now), and well since then the car has been drinking petrol like a freaking beast.. I've checked everything, seems to be no problems...

One thing i do noticed is, my rolling resistance is very high, for example... if i were driving on a near perfect horizontal road travelling at 80km/h, and i let go of the accelerator, the cars speed would drop extremely fast, i'd be at approx 60km/h in less then 5 seconds...Where as if i chuck it in Neutral gear, the car will just roll and roll and roll.. =)

Another example, when im going down hill in Drive gear, i won't pick up any speed like a normal car would, instead my speed actually slowly decreases.. and im talking about a pretty decent 25-30 decline hill. Soo im going down a hill at like 60km/h and will slowly drop, and if the hill is pretty steep, the speed usually stays the same, once again not picking up speed ...=(

Is there a reason why my cars rolling resistance is SO HIGH , when its in Drive Gear?? Is it related to the ATF i put in?

Replies are much appreciated, Thanks

P.S I drive a 91 Honda Accord (cb7), never used to have this problem till after the ATF change, and Yes.. i have made sure many times that the tyres are at the right pressure..

that is really wierd, i dont own a auto but when im rolling down a hill in 4th or 3rd gear my car only picks up speed upto a certain point then the gears kinda stop it from going any higher (at 3rd gear it wont go past about 50-60, but the hill i go on too go home isnt that long anyway only 200m).
did you put the right stuff in? perhaps its too viscocious(sp?)

what kinda L/100km you getting and what were you getting?

Yeh, i used OEM ATF, and im only averaging a poor 350-400km per tank, which is 55L.

you sure you used the right flidu? ATF is pretty thin, even aftermarket stuff and it shouldn't affect your car that much.

If you really think its the prob try changing it again. Also make sure you don't over top it up as its usually about 2 1/2 litres only.

What happens if you over top it?

it just puts more pressure in the box, could also increase resistance
