View Full Version : Painted my fn2 calipers red, looks great DIY

i just painted my calipers red and i also did some detailing on the type r logo with white paint and the results looks awesome, just want go give people some ideas if you want to do similar things

What you need:
heat resistant paint
degreaser
really small paint brush for the type r logo
white paint
news papers + masking tape
blue tack - i used blue tack to cover the black rubbery part behind the brake pad since i dont want to paint this red. This part is small and hard to cover using masking tape so i just work the blue tak through the gaps

Next project: install sound deadener to doors, install ipod connector and also Ground loop insulator

why?????

it's a Type R afterall!!! it's already over weight as it is........

maybe u want better sound quality but make sure the material is light.

The car is already heavy enough! Don't put deadener in LOL! Enjoy the brute rough noise of the car.. That's what the TYPE R is all about... :D

After I drove the car, I still find it tame, not very much a typical R should be :D

I think it looks great and I dont know why honda didnt do that anyway since they went through al lthe effort of casting the Type R logo into the caliper anyway..

Awesome DIY lol.... i'd do that on my normal civic but i think it would come off looking tacky >__> I've already seen one 2006 Civic with red calipers (back when it came out before Type R existed for it) and it just.. made me go.. ugh.

Btw I'm surprised so many ppl here know bahasa.

u should have just painted the caliper red... then sand back the red over the type r cast... if u get what i mean
would have looked alot neater

Just thought I'd add you see this alot in Malaysia... I guess it looks alright, but for some cars (e.g. my standard issue Civic), it'll look crap.

For the Type-R I think it's okay since it's actualy a performance sedan.

Oops my mistake. I was looking at the Mugen Type RR (the FD one) when I was posting earlier today and might've gotten a tad mixed up :)

I think its too much red haha! if you check in the civictype-r.co.uk UK forum there are people who painted the TYPE" black and the R" red. I think that suits your car better
