Hey guys,

I'm buying a Type R very shortly, and was tossing up between DC2R and DC5R, but the deciding factor was that DC2R is well over the 125kw/tonne limit for P platers.

The DC5R comes in at 125kw/tonne. (125.641)

Will I still be hassled/told not to drive the car if I get pulled up or is it usually not enforced?

What do the rego sheets say? Does the 'specified' weight change if air conditioning is a selected option? The 1170kg weight honda claim I am sure does not include air conditioning as it does not come standard...

Thoughts or ideas?

I'm quite aware that the DC2R is over the p/w limit.

Thanks anyway.

hehe its a good thing i dont live in melbourne

but to be honest i dont think cops will be too fussed about that unless a p plater drives a ferrari or something

If your blatently over (this includes WRX(126kwt/tonne-130kwts/tonne), other than MY98, SR20DET 180sx(130ishkwts/tonne)) you WILL get done.

If Chris (CJL) has gotten away with it in his DC5R with the copper he's talking about, then your safe.

If you do decide to get a DC2 R a dyno sheet is proof enough that the car is below the Power/weight limit. The rulling is based on factory figures unless otherwise proven. Not to mention that they will figure out your power/weight based on the Tare on the reg which anyone from victoria will tell you is always grossly incorect... eg my rego says my EG-5's tare is 900kgs

what do they do, if your car is over the power to weight limit in VIC?

Not really sure what happens. I suppose you get a healthy fine and made sold your car, unless you wanna keep getting done..

i got dc2r with shit load of mods on my p plates...cops have neva pulled me ova...they tend to only pull of the jap imports inpartiuclar all turbo cars...at the same time wit a type r if they do pull u ova they dont give two ****s about u being on ur p plates.....as i said cops like the jap imports

A'Pexi- There are and if they get pulled over by certain officers they get done... as I said if your pulled over by certain officers you WILL get done. Theres are a few cops now with Binders of Imports and Jap cars in general... so that includes all Aussy jap cars... ie Honda's. They have all the info on all the cars stock figures.

Rowie- Its a $250 Fine and no points. You're given a slip similar to a roady. But you continue to get fines every time your pulled over.

Basicly you can drive it home and sell it. Or continue to get fined.

Sp3rMz- you've either been lucky or dont drive in areas where cops are known to prey on P platers. BUT like i said, if you provide a dyno sheet proving its under the power weight with your mods your safe. Other wise its based on stock figures for Tare (unless amended by VIC roads on your reg) and the power output.
