Problem starting car

Hi everyone.

I have a 1997 Civic CXI hatch. About 18 months ago the original key that i have been using for the last 9 years would no longer turn the ignition. So i have been using the spare until the other day when the same thing happened.

The Key will unlock the doors and fit in the ignition, but will not turn the ignition to start the car.

Would anyone have any idea why this has happened? What would be the best way to fix this problem.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

I recon the ignition barel ( lock part ) is failing.

a proper fix is to replace it. a cheap ghetto fix is to get some graphite lubricant in ther to see if yo can lube it up a bit.

Get a new barrel and get it retumbled. (remember to take the old barrel back from the mechanic :))
