Hi Guys,
I have a 04 accord euro....
Just wondering if anyone has come across any altezza tail lights or any aftermarket lights....I have searched and couldn't find any...

I think it will do well if they bring them out....

cheers
Gez

Unless you own an IS200, it is illegal to own Altezza's in Australia.

It's a new law that the RTA / Vicroads have brought in recently.

Is that true? I didn't know that and is that only for Vic or in QLD as well??

nah its Australia wide.

Unless you have an IS200 (or Toyota Altezza) altezza lights are banned, its a defectable thing!

that's not right - it's if u have after market rear tail-lights with the red indicator instead of the orange indicator then if can be defectable... dont matter if u change the lights ... as long as the lights are still bright enough and still have orange indicator then u'll be fine

my friend got pulled over the other day and his got a lancer with altezza style rear taillights and the copper just told him to change the red blinker to orange..

get your facts right buddy. you can have any tail lights you so wish... aslong as they replace all the original lights (ie: tail/brake/indicator/reverse) and theyre viewable from the correct position behind the vehicle and meet the required brightness, you can have anything.

theres heaps of cars that come out with altezza style lights (IS300, mazda 6, rx8, mx5, s2000, evo8, and thats just to name a few!) theres is no way the government could say "only IS200 can have clear taillights, everything else is illegal".

what the law could be changed to is all aftermarket lights are illegal... but for your everyday joe blogs copper, how the f*@% is he gonna know what lights every car in australia comes with off the top of his head? the only way youd get done would be if your new aftermarket ones had red for the indicator or werent bright enough, or the brake lights wasnt within the required wavelength, etc etc...

meh altezza's would look cheap on the Euro, just like how they look cheap on lancers, commodores, and BMW's.

IMO If u wanna mod the rear lights, darkening part of the existing red and install some LED brake light bulbs ftw

i reckon the euro's taillights look damn good already. mayb bit of LEDs will make it even better but altezza's light. nah..

the only thing I'd consider doing to the lights is changing the reverse lights for the darker 06/07 versions

like i said in my previous post, aftermarket lights are legal as long as they have orange indicator as most aftermarket lights have red indicators in them

yourfather, i dont know what your reply was, but i checked up today with both my local police station (ACT), and my mate (NSW police), both of them informed me there has been no change to the ruleings... confirmed it with the RTA, and they said the same thing.

Even if Altezza lights do exist for Euro, I think it will make Euro looks boyracer VIP. Just leave the way as it is.

yourfather - clear tail-lights are not illegal, so i dont know who u got ur information from - sounds like rubbish to me ... as the only thing that is defectable on taillights is the red indicator....

EuroDude
25-09-2007, 09:11 AM
Well from what ive gathered, the completely clear ones are illegal. If they have sufficient non-lit red plastic on them, they are legal.

Actually you have a point there :p Although there are two chunky red reflectors on the rear bumper, so I suppose that makes it legal..

doesnt matter about the colour of the tail lights (when off ofcourse) as long as the globes produce red (and not some faded pinky colour) and their are two red rear facing reflectors, youll be sweet

Hmmm, i dunno about the altezza lights but each to there own i guess. If you like them. Buy them.

But, i'm pretty sure they are illegal as the aftermarket altezza are not ADR approved when the likes of the Lexus IS200 & ect, the rear lights have been ADR approved.

the majority of aftermarket tail lights (especially ones sold through big names chains like autobarn etc) are actually ADR approved, its just the cheap dodgy ebay ones that arent....
