lucky you are still alive.
50km/h in a wet condition, unfamiliar road is just as dangerous as anything.
thank god there werent other cars in the area.
good luck with the insurance claim.... and since when a DC5 is a sports car?

50km/h was too fast for the conditions and him being unfamiliar with the road. I'm glad he's still alive, but I'm not sympathetic with his car being a writeoff.

dont blame the road or the bad curve. but hey, it does make the driver feel better when they blame the road despite their driving.
you should have driven slower but at least you're still alive to post pics.

Well by the same logic a Camry Sportivo is a sports car.

Bye bye DC5.

DC5 isn't a sports car. The S just means you get leather trim and a few fancy features (which means your heavier and even further away from being a 'sprots' car.)

50km hour isn't quick at all. In order to do this sort of damage at 50k's you'd need to be driving with your headlights off and with bald tyres.

I'm guessing your "sports" car was going faster then 50 and you got understeer in the wet and went off the edge.

Sorry, but i find it hard to believe that this happened at 50k's. Even grandma would have been able to take a corner, in the wet, at night at 50 k's an hour.

as a replacement for the Type R, i'd definitely classify the Type S as a sports car. the fact that it has "leather trim and a few fancy features" purely means it was catered for a wider audience. not just the pure sports car enthusiasts. and with an extra 7kw more than the dc5r, if you dont call it a sports car i dont know what it is then.

HAHAH

Lotus elise = Sports car

philBo
24-09-2007, 09:08 AM
and yet again, why would you not consider the Type S a sports car?

JasonGilholme
24-09-2007, 09:15 AM
because it doesn't compare to a lotus elise or anything else that is quick.

I'm a bit of a hard ass tho. I don't think any of the MX5's are sports cars cause they're slower then my crx and don't handle anywhere near as good.

in my eyes the DC5 is just too big to be a sports car. Its the same size as a large sedan.

DC2 was a much better car (i'd call that a sports car). DC5 was a step backwards from the "sports car" status.

and i bet your del sol is more of a sports car than a dc5r or dc5s :)

purely coz its small and compact yeh ? people don't call it 'del slo' for no reason ;)

Thanks Wiki..

A sports car is an automobile (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile) designed for performance driving. Most sports cars are rear-wheel drive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rear-wheel_drive), have two seats, two doors, and are designed for precise handling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_handling), acceleration, and aesthetics. A sports car's dominant considerations can be superior road handling, braking, maneuverability, low weight, and high power, rather than passenger space, comfort, and fuel economy.
Sports cars can be either luxurious[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_car#_note-0) or spartan, but driving mechanical performance is the key attraction

HAHA i never said mine is a sports car lol. although it does beat mx5's (aparently a sports car) and, for those that are interested, does get in front of DC5S's as well. lol

Next people will be sayin that a euro is a sports car!

either way i hope you got insurance man.

Comparing your crx to mx5's is pretty pointless.
Are your comparing mod for mod?I doubt it.
I personally like both cars but stock vs stock your crx would be in the kitty litter or off the cliff before any model mx5.
Not attacking but gotta be realistic though.:)

JasonGilholme
24-09-2007, 05:14 PM
my engine is stock. Only got coilovers and brakes.

a mate of mine has a stock sussy mx5 with headers and catback and i'm quicker then him. They loose a lot through the drivetrain man.

Not really mod for mod but its a fair enough comparison.

back on topic now guys.

yeah i do have full comp with racv, i went today to check it out at the towing place and it seem to be that the engine is still good, both the light at the back light is not damage other then that every thing is damage. The reason i smash was because of unfamiliar rd, raining, sharpe curve and yes speeding, the sigh say 35 and i tink i did about 50km. now i just hope the insurance would pay me then after tat i would get a normal car to drive to work rofl no more vtec for me :thumbdwn:

at the moment i couldn't even drive a car jsut abit nervous when get on the rd so right now wont be able to go to wrk for a while:cool:

markCivicVti
24-09-2007, 09:34 PM
mate i know the feeling... had an accident around a wet corner as well... lost control and slammed into a mazda 3 (write off)... and I was nervous when getting back into a car... even if not driving. That was almost 2 years ago... and its only in the last 6 months that the last bit of nervs left.

BTW i wasn't hooning either... apparently evertime it rains there's at least one accident around that corner... and the day i had the accident apparently an old lady had one too (I was told by a nice lady who lived there). Apparently council wont do something till someone dies... cos its a major bus route or something.

You do realise some MX5's Came in Turbo and would pone you right
Power 157kW @ 6800rpm
Torque 289Nm @ 4600rpm-4600rpm
Kerb Weight 1141kg

They go alright

JasonGilholme
25-09-2007, 08:48 AM
oh really?? Never seen a turbo one. That'd be the way to go.

you should get a descent pay out from that sort of car. also, those yellow signs that say 35 are only an "indication" of what speed you should take the corner. The white signs are the ones that you should be concerned about.

you wrote off a FWD car @ 50km/h and you want to now get something turboed and RWD ? Sounds like a logical progression now that you know so much about driving.

Not.

Hey ben,
not rushing to anyones defence or anything, but Himura never said he wanted an mx5 (unless i skipped a post somewhere), the mx5 discussion only came up because Jason G. doesn't consider dc5's or a mx5's as 'sports cars'.
When fwd cars let go in the wet it can all go wrong so very quickly. himura has my sympathy, but hey you live and learn, it's never a good feeling to kill any car, letalone one as nice as a dc5s.

I believe this could happen at 50 km/h or close to it as i did the very simalar to my 95 Honda Civic.

i was only doing around 60km it had just started raining and i came down around a corner and went off the side of the road and rolled about 5 times (according to cops)

i did very simalar damage and no real injuries except a sore neck and alot of glass cuts all over...

I understand both of us were the cause of the crashes NOT the conditions but they did help...(i know i'm a shit driver)

That's my 2 cents
