Engine wise = Timing belt..

well eg's r getting older, and average k's per year is 20,000 so technically all EG's should have over 200k. if the car has been kept well, it shouldnt have any problems....

check the service history and accident history , and check the compression of the motor to get an indication of its internal condition.

OTherwise its a 14 year old car :)

Honda engine are reliable if is serviced regularly, main things to check for would be paint fading, interior condition(check for fades on rubber seals between windows as they tend to be cracking and out of shape), funny or loud noise from the engine and how straight the panel looks. Also I was in the market for a vti few months back I noticed on most of them there seems to be some kind of squeaking sound coming from the clutch dunno if that is a common problem in vti.

yep as above if the car has been well looked after, ie hasnt missed any services, etc, etc should be fine
my crx has log book history since new, the car has done 212xxx kms on it with out a rebuild, and i still managed to pull 108.1kw@fw

recently had a look at a crx for a mate, which had 314xxx kms on it, with stock motor, and i was very surprised at the condition of the car, was in perfect condition, had a service history since new, the guy ran out of space to stamp it so he wrote down on the back of the page, the date, service interval and how many kms the car had when he did the service
have to admit it was one of the best crxs i've drivin, seals were in prefect condition drove very very nicely, had a tiny oil leak, but imo it was fine considering how many kms it had on it, didnt blow any smoke
other than a few minor issues like crack in the dash, clutch is on its way, and amount of kms on the clock, it was a very good pick up for the price we got it for

man honda engine r one of d best, depends on d previous owner, but best thing to do is to get it checked by a honda specialist...my previous car was just a gli had like 260K on it . n was perfect, no mechanical problems. canaray's yeah . but no propblem ....

no can tell u 100% if a car has no problems . they can give u an idea but cant guaranteee that it ahs no problems ... unlesss they pull the car apart ...
so good luck anywyas

I say the other major item to check is the cooling system....Radiator; connecting hoses; thermostat ...etc. Look for over flow of coolant around the reservoir and radiator tank.

main bush in the rear trailing arm is probably split if they havnt replaced it at some stage...makes a squeaking noise when you go over bumps...very common problem for eg

main problem with a car with that many k's is trying to sell them, everyone thinks that the car is going to be worn out and all they'll be doing if they buy it is spend money on it to keep it going, regarding your first post you said pretty much the same thing.

imo if the car has been well looked after its whole life then go for it, you shouldn't have any problems with it. my car has over 200k on it and its still perfect, the only thing that has stuffed up on me in the last 100 thou is an ignition coil, other than that its perfect

good luck

doesn't matter if it has 500km or 100km

Its all about how well the previous owners have looked after their car. Of course freaky things can go wrong all of a sudden with older cars but i guess thats the risk with all cars. Honestly i rekon Honda engines are tough ! my mates eg civic has done around 420xxx from memory STILL ON ORIG ENGINE NO REBUILD OR ANYTHING !!! Just a few little mechanical problems but nothing major yet !

show us some photos of your 'brand new oil' after a few thousand k's.

unless it was dirty brown to start with, you are mistaken. oil goes black over time on a car with 5km on the clock just like it does on a car with 50 000km on the lock

ok..., when i pull the dip stick out it is still the same colour as when it came out of the bottle, as i said in my previous post, no need to arc up
