Hey guys,
Just a quick question, How much weight would tyres and air add to a set of 17x7 rims?
Eg. 'If a rim weighed 7kg how much would you expect it to weigh with a tyre on and inflated'.
Thanks guys.

Tyres usually 10kg or so for 205 profile 16". If you have wider tyres, it puts on weight very quickly. Air weighs almost nothing.

The tyres will be 215/40/17. Is that 10kg per tyre?.

That will be more than 10kg.

yup compressed air adds probably max 500grams if that ~ noticed on my semis before and after letting air out (for storage)

So if i got rims that weighed 7kgs after they got tyres on they would weigh 17kgs each?

dunno. The tyre + comrpessed air seems to add "about" 10kgs of weight.
For example - my stock rims weigh 5.5kg - + 195x50x15 tyre and air = 14kg.

I'm running stock honda 15's that I weighted at 8kg, with another 8kg going to 195/55's on them.

Wheels are heavy as all hell. Big wheels make you go slow as all hell. Unfortunately as said already, tyres are also heavy as all hell.

yeah a 215/40/17 tires weight anywhere in between 8.5kg to 10.5kg, depends on the tire's construction, I believe that if it is a more reinforced tire, such as those with stiffer side wall etc, these tires generally are a bit heavier.

And then whatever the weight of compressed air is!

hope this help!
