hi, i was wondering if i lowered my accord euro using a different set of springs, would i have to notify my insurance company? and if i do, would that result in any extra excess/payment i have to make?
right now im with honda insurance which i believe they are with GIO. im only using them because i get 1 yr free insurance with them as a special deal
thanks

probably ask the insurance company first. most companies would considering lowering a car as a performance mod, and they would declare the insurance void.

Honda Insurance used to be with Swann Insurance. I've called up to ask about lowering, and while the premium stayed the same, the excess would shoot from $400 to $1000.
Call your insurance company to ask.

as stated above call the insurance company to get a definate answer.
from my past experience with insurance companies i have had they would consider lowering the car as a modification
with my current insurer 'just cars' they will charge you a modification fee i think its 50 something dollars from memory, but because it is so minor they will not ask you to pay it. this naturally will be included in your next years premium.
eg. i call up and tell them i have lowered my car my current premium is $1000 they will advise me it is a $50something dollar fee but won't charge me as it is to minor. next year my premium will be $1050 (if your premium has not dropped)
ok back to 'just cars' then they will ask how much the mod cost you, if the mod didn't cost alot the additional fee to your premium will be minimal so they will not charge you for this also. and the same thing will happen as per my example above.
i know you are with a different insurer but they may also work the same or similar. but it wil be definately be considered as a mod.
i had an accident when my car was lowered, didnt tell insurance, no problems.. I believe that it only becomes an issue if the modification was a contributing factor in the accident. For example if your car was too low and you bottomed out round a corner and slid into a pole, its very likely that they wont insure you for that. On the other hand if you reverse into a pole in a carpark and yoru car is lowered, theyre obviously not going to ask any questions. I wouldnt bother telling insurance, unless of course your a shit driver and have many accidents, then they'l probably look for something to void it.
