View Full Version : idle problem after installing cams

hi

just got skunk2 stage 2 camshafts, valve springs, retainers and cam gears installed to my dc2 today. and the idle is terrible. idle is very rough goes down to bout 400 !! what is the problem ?? is it coz i got a standard ecu?

I imagine your fuel economy will be pretty bad too..

lol. You have altered the lift and duration of your camshafts , and using a stock ECU you wonder why it wont run properly ?

Get an after market ECU ( power FC / hondata ) and tune it.

I'd try a ECU reset that might help abit.
Also check the timing of the car. The aftermarket CAMs generally have the same profile in non-vtec cam, and only go wild in Vtec cam, so idle shouldn't have a problem

Unless you have a non-vtec car? then it might need and aftermarket ECU. But i'd still reset the ecu.

yeah reset the ECu first then tune it should go fine .. your fuel is gonna be ***d but ;)

thnx guys

got it installed at apc. one of the guy said the cams r too big and cant tune itt o the ecu. said i have to get a engine management system. dis morning brought it bak to put old ones bak in for the time being. keeps stalling in neutral now.

hehe im gonna take it to another tuner at cleveland they sed it shud run fine even with the standard ecu. it just wont be running at full potential.
