View Full Version : OEM Alarm on 04 Luxury - is there one?
Hi,
I have a 2004 Euro Luxury. Does this come with an alarm?
If yes, then how does it work i.e. what will make it go off?
Thanks!
yeah it does have alarm and immobiliser - no movement sensor inside the vehicle though.

the stock alarm system is very basic, no shock sensors, movement sensors, standalone siren or backup battery. it is wired to your horn.
so once you lock your car with the remote on the key it will activate the alarm. the only way it will set off is if you unlock the door without the remote and open the door/s.

so does that mean that if someone smashes the windows and enters the car without openning the doors, the alarm wont go off?

I think that is right but they can't start the car.

The alarm will go off if you enter the car without using the key,i've tried it.wind the windows down then lock the car and wait a couple of seconds then wave your arm through the open window which sets the horn and flashers off.

Not the Accord Euro I owned. Your alarm has been modified if it has a motion sensor.

i thought it was only the european models that had ultra sonic sensors in the cabin? ill check mine tomorrow...
oh and in addition to if you open door while the car is armed, opening the boot or bonnet will also sound the horn

stock alarm definately does not have a motion sensor inside the car as far as i am aware.
thats right if the someone breaks your window and does not open the doors the alarm will not trigger.

I take it that the non-lux Euro don't come with alarm?

Personally, I think the whole motion-sensor alarm thing is over-rated. All they seem to do is get set off by car exhausts and trucks going past, and when my window (previous car) was actually smashed, I didn't hear it anyway...
Immobiliser is the most important thing!

your thinking of shock sensor... european euros have ultra sonic motion sensor... it sends out ultra sonic waves into the cabin, they hit the dash/seats/centre console and bounce back... it measures the time it takes to do so... if something now enters that area, the waves will bounce back quicker, and in the process set off the alarm :) ultra sonic will not be set off by loud exhausts or trucks going past, its alot better system!

From memory, it only automatically locks if u unlock the car and not open the doors for 30 secs after unlocking. If u open the door and accidentally leave the keys inside and close the door, the car will not automatically lock itself.
Can someone confirm? :P

Yes, absolutely correct.
So, for you to leave your keys inside you must have opened a door. So therefore, you will never leave your car keys locked inside.

True. The doors won't lock after a door has been opened within 30 seconds of unlocking. If you haven't left the car within 30 seconds you'd be locked-in.

You can, if you really want to, lock the keys in the car by leaving them inside (but not in the ignition), lifting and holding the drivers outside door handle, pressing the inside door lock tab near the window, shutting the door and then releasing the outside door handle. It could give you an excuse to call for roadside assistance.

you can still lock your keys in the car so to speak without going through the above steps :) ...
if you unlock your car, go to the boot open it up and put things in and accidently leave your keys in the boot, close the boot and your car will still lock in 30sec. which means doors and boot locks will be locked.

True. This one I'm really paranoid about; to the extent that I undertake the "ritual of the putting of the keys in my pocket" and, the "ritual of the checking of my pocket for my keys" before I go anywhere near the boot.

I made the mistake once of putting the keys in my shirt pocket and they fell into the boot when I reached in to get my machette. I had to have a glass of water to calm down!
