hi theres this alarm system which im intrested in but i have no idea where they sell it. the alarm for example works like this you park your car at the shopping car park and you go in for some shopping and someone tampers with your car while your inside shopping. the car alarm sirens goes off while at the same time you have a external keyring device which shakes and alarms you that someone is tampering with your car so that you can quickly run to your car.

much appreciated if anyone knows where i can buy something like this or similar cheers

They are quite common.

What you are referring to is a two-way alarm pager. In comparison to one-way alarms, they generally tend to have a longer range (from car to receiver(s)) and most will show you on the remote which part of the car has been tampered with, whereas the one-way alarm system does not notify you of any disturbances.

If you have an automatic car, maybe look for one that the remote-engine-start feature, very neat! :)

jaycar electronics sell a two way paging alarm. costs $299 and has a range of 3km (claimed, prob more around 1-2km)... keyring beeps and vibrates if ur alarm goes off, also shows you what set it off (ie: smashed window, door opened, ignition started)

hope that helps

the 2-way alarms, viper alarms seem to be ok, but its not black wiring so might have problems with ur insurance. but overall those pager alarms the range isnt that great especially if ur indoors. personally i dont think its worth the cost, i rather spend the money on a good alarm system like mongoose m80g.

ah i see so the range is very poor?
what about those alarm systems which send a sms to your phone when someone tampers with your car? are they very expensive?

the alarm itself isnt that expensive (they start at around $300-$400) its the fact that they need access to a GSM network that makes them expensive, you either need a prepaid card for them, or have them on a plan...

the best thing about two way alarms is most of them you can silent arm... so you in your house watching telly, your remote beeps at you, you run out with a "problem solver" and catch the bastard red handed trying to break into your car... then you break him

im not sure how all models work, but from the ones ive seen, you just put a simcard in the main module... if it were a pre paid one, depending on the carrier, yes it would expire (optus gives you 60days). so yeah youd be buying credit all the time thats not being used. i think vodafone do a deal thing where you get 1yr credit? thatd be perfect for an alarm...

I haven't heard of a prepaid sim before. But what kind of car have you got that should require 3rd party help?

I would not recommend a Boomerang alarm....ive had many many problems and im ready to rip it out and smash it with all of my kincrome tools and drive over it a hundred billion times etc...also not very many dealers of it in Australia from what i can find...

I was thinking of getting mayb a Brant alarm...there pretty good from what i hear (there on most wrx's i think)

Or if you live in melb...take your car down to mod project...i think they know a guy who does alarms with the satellite feature...where it beeps ur phone or somthing ...has some redicluous range...

Considering the amount of WRXs that get stolen and used for get away cars, don't sound to promising :p

thats because all STI (or keypad immobiliser istalled on WRX) alarms are the same, so anyone thats ever owned (or worked on) a STI/WRX would know how to disarm and reset the alarm...

u can get them off ebay for around $300 - $400 depending wat brand. u just need a sim card, thats it. u can have one from 3, vodafone, optus, telstra, virgin. any mobile fone carrier, it doesnt matter.

u can also get GPS car tracking devices, but IMO, its more worth while investing in say a 6 point immobiliser. prevention from getting ur car stolen is far better than finding ur car burning wreck.
