My car is a Honda AH 2D H/B Civic 85 model with EW2 engine 1500cc.

The car was running - started and run for warm up, then died - motor still cranks over but it won't fire. I heard a strange noise when I started it just before it conked out - it sounded like it was coming from the upper timing belt cover - so I took that off and noticed the camshaft sprocket bolt that screws into the cam was loose - which leads me to believe that it's thrown out timing in some way. I can't seem to diagnose the problem and get the car started again!

Parts that I have changed are as follows:
1. Ignition leads
2. Spark plugs
3. Distributor cap rotor button

Still no success in getting the car started.

I'm not too cluey on the timing sides of things - so if anyone can shed some light on how to line up the timing and get it all set up to get the car running that would greatly appreciated.

Also are the cylinder numbers (drivebelt end to trans axle end) read from 1-2-3-4 or is it the reverse way as I have lost myself in between changing spark plug leads?

Thanks

P.S Are there any mechanics on the forum? :(
